Most of those plays or songs, or works of art, are quite flattering, of course, but there are certain inaccuracies, and the quality varies wildly. A clever dollmaker has even started to sell little action figures of the people that released the three Induks, those that were at Glass Temple, and the villains.Open

	Magic exchange!	All Season	Thread: Winston's Works ~ Magic exchange! 	Cylus Celebrants!	All Season	Those who celebrate in Cylus are the recipients of an age-old Scalvorian tradition. For a couple who wed during these freezing trials, a woman who has a baby or any family or individual who celebrates, gifts are brought from around their region. Much more so than they would be should they experience what they are during any other cycle. Often, these gifts are sent before Cylus starts and there is one member of the community who has a "stockpile" ready. Every now and then someone suggests that they just stop sending them to each other and give to their own people, but the answer is always no, it's nice to receive things from all over the island.Open

	Spirits of Doom	All Season	No one knows why, but over most of the populated areas of Scalvaris, there is a rise in the presence of spirits of destruction, fire, secrets and other of the same ilk. While most of the populus is blissfully unawares, but for those able to sense them, they drift on the breeze and permeate the cities.Open

	New Military Structure	1st Cylus	Kura's new military structure comes into force: Earth, Air, Water, and Spirit Elements will stay largely the same in terms of purpose. The Fire branch is restructured, though. Mages and Blessed will be dispersed throughout all branches, ditto the Rangers and the Peltbacks. Fire will instead take on more specialized support roles that require specific training. Siege engine operations, sappers, things that fall outside the realm of "day-to-day" warfare. For the command structure: The Militant will be temporarily held by the Albarech during the transition. Deputies won't be changed, but Assistants will be repurposed into regional command. There are new ranks. Commisioner, will be in charge of each towns element contingency, below Assistants. Superintendent, will be small unit command, 10-20 Elements. From Assistant downwards, the regular four element branches will be mixed together and under the same commanders.Open

	Cylus Dusk	1st Cylus	Whole Island (except Immortals Tongue and Ishallr) Description: The first dusk on the 1st Cylus sees the people of Scalvoris lighting a huge bonfire on the nearest beach and celebrating the night away. Each region does this differently, but celebrations are held everywhere. There might be a number of bonfires in different areas of Scalvoris Town or Almund, depending on what sort of party you want to go to. There's likely to be one that's child-friendly and at least one that's very adult. The only place where this doesn't take place is Immortals' Tongue and Ishallr.Open

	Reclamation Trial	3rd Cylus	Also known as the Black Baer Trial, this trial sees celebrations which are fairly ad hoc, with Scalvorians taking time out of their trial to reflect on the lives lost during the eruption of Faldrass in 720 and its aftermath, and the bravery of those who dared to forge a new beginning on the island. Although the trial is observed by people in all parts of Scalvoris - particularly refugees who never returned to Faldrass - the 'vellum vessels' tradition is restricted almost exclusively to Almund and Faldrass. This arc it is rather scuppered by the weather (see 2nd Cylus for details) as the torrential snow storm continues, but a few brave souls still manage it.Open

	Sea of Light	10th Cylus	The Sea of Light is somewhat a remembrance in full force this arc. People congregate and release floating lanterns on to the water, as they always have, but this year, in the wake of what occured only an arc before, the lanterns hole wishes, hope and memories of those still and perhaps forever lost to the snows.Open

	Where are our heroes?	11thCylus	It's been a year since the snow, nearly a year since the pirate attacks and on the morning of the 11th, there are riots and panic across Scalvoris. Rumours abound that there is massive amounts of explosives underneath the whole island and that Chrien is going to blow the island up. Total panic. .Join in - open in all rounds

	Flowerlight Festival	20th Cylus	The 20th Cylus sees parks and gardens throughout Scalvoris lit up with lanterns which have been shaped like flowers and which represent the growth which is promised when the light returns to the island. As one of the few early-cylus festivals to remain bright and cheerful in the wake of 723, the focus is on bringing light and creating light on the island itself. Those areas which are most bare and barren during this time are transformed, for just one trial, into places of multicoloured, flickering beauty. People flock there to look at them and marvel at the craftsmanshipOpen

	Something's wrong, I'm sure of it..........	27th Cylus	Rumours are flying around that there's something ELSE that's going on here. Something's wrong on Scalvoris, some big threat. As to what that threat is? Stories vary. Some say that Tio Silver has returned and is looking for a bride, others suggest that there has been discovered a traitor in the council. One particularly wild rumour is that there has been discovered what has been called "Alchemical Fire" by the crate-load underneath all of Scalvoris - that the whole island is being held to ransom and will blow up if Kura doesn't meet the demands. But that's all just crazy speculation, innit? But there's no doubting it - there are ships being built in Egilrun, and quite a lot of them!Open

	Light Sky Festival	30th Cylus	The 30th Cylus sees people all over the island releasing lanterns into the sky throughout the trial. From the 'dawn' to when the sun finally reappears, there are lanterns in the sky above Scalvoris. The people are very clear that they get the light one trial before anyone else on Idalos. They make it for themselves and, of course they do. They are Scalvorians, after all.Open

Natural Phenomena

Throughout Cylus, the whole of Scalvoris is in dusk-like darkness, which is constant throughout the trial. People tend to stay indoors / avoid parks and public spaces etc. Open
Throughout this season, Rainbow Sand continues to pop up in places where its not common. Open
There continues to be a significant increase in the nocturnal animals spotted throughout the season, and it's now become an issue in towns. What's up with that?Open

Weather

Long cold days leave Scalvoris in a constant state of near darkness. Living outdoors during this season is close to impossible without being very prepared due to the icy temperatures, and flora and fauna suffer during this time. Throughout this season everywhere is covered in a blanket of snow and some areas are completely cut off from the rest of the island. Scalvoris plunges into almost-night for the season, until the light of Ashan touches it once more. By the middle of this season, drifts of snow several feet deep are a common sight, but obviously, some places are impacted more than others.

Skies

It is worth remembering that during this season there are scientists scampering all over Scalvoris. The clear night sky is a wonder to them. They don't get out much, and so they're very happy. Open

Be more biqaj: rumours of a helpful biqaj in Harvardr lead to people feeling like biqaj is the new cool. Biqaj hairstyles, clothing, sayings. They're all the rage.
Buckle That Swash! Maybe alongside the whole biqaj theme, there's a fashion for rapiers and other dashing-looking swords.
Blue: Blue is the new black. Blue is in, black is out. Blue blue blue! .

	Spiders	All Season	Throughout Ashan spiders become more prevalent across Scalvoris. People in houses notice more of the eight-legged critters and by mid-afternoon on the 8th it becomes apparent that there are lots more spiders and many more of the non-house / unusual variety everywhere. This is great news for those who collect silk, but not so fun for arachnophobes. Also, prevalence of spider-bites increase and there's a shortage of antidotes by mid-Ashan unless some enterprising soul does something.Open

	Snakes......	All Season	As Ashan heats up and the deadly cold of Cylus leaves, a strange phenomena occurs on the night of the 14th, in the early hours of the 15th and throughout the rest of the season. Snakes. Lots of snakes. Snakes are found in houses, businesses, in the street. Across the island, there are snakes which are hungry and rather grouchy. It's like they've all come from somewhere - like they've been dispossessed. But... where? Unusual snake, common ones - ranging from the very poisonous to the mundane. And all of them like they've been made grouchy by something. .. .... and all of them looking for a new home.Open

	Ashan’s Dawn Festival	1st Ashan	This has the ritual of giving a hand made gift to someone. This can be someone you know well or a stranger. The gift is given with good feeling, or bad luck will befall you all arc. It must be a gift you have made, rather than a handmade item you purchaseOpen

	Is Anyone Remembering The Fallen?	2nd Ashan	On this trial last arc, there was a remembrance across Scalvoris for those who died in the snow-storm of Cylus and also those who died at the hands of pirate attacks. People wanted to see action and to be reassured that their surrounding waters are safe. What has been done?! What has changed?! People want to know that things are safe and this trial sparks firm stirring amongst those that lost loved ones over an arc ago.Open

	Gifting Trial Festival	5th Ashan	This marks the end of the long darkness of Cylus and all over Scalvoris there are celebrations. In preparation for the season of light and life, Scalvorians go and find a blossom or bloom from an early spring flower or a Cylus-blooming one. They then take this to the house of someone they don't know and give it as a gift in the hope of new friendships being born. In return, they are given a small candle so that they will never know darkness.Open

	The Arrival	13th Ashan	At first light, the two ships appear in the sky and, by mid-morning on this trial the Hyludin have arrived. It's a bit of an issue, really. How will this first contact go? If you want to be part of this thread, PM Peg before Feb 20th. Moderated

	Tried’s Luck Festival	30th Ashan	This happens as the temperatures begin to rise the superstition is that those who will start to sew crops must go and swim in the waters off Tried's teeth to cleanse them of any bad luck from the arc before. This is done every arc, people from all over the island joining in, so that the harvest might be bountifulOpen

	Floods!	38th Ashan	Heavy rain on the 38th plus the raising temperature leads to a strange and specific phenomena to-trial. Flooding. There's a lot of rain and it's heavy, but actually what seems to be the problem is that, across the island, water is bubbling up from underground sewers and tunnels. Normally the underground tunnels are more than sufficient even in times of a LOT more rain. Maybe they're blocked? Perhaps people will investigate!!! Open

	World’s End Festival	45th Ashan	The people of Scalvoris hold a festival. Traditionally this takes place past Almund on the Northernmost tip of the island, a place called "World's End". There is dancing and celebration this night and it is said that those who wed in the World's End Festival will have a life filled with luck. If a storm happens during the World's End Festival it is a sign that the Immortals are watching and party goers dance in the rain. This year, the weather is beautiful and a vast number of shooting stars dance across the sky, accompanying Saoire’s star-turtle!!Open

	Size Matters	50th Ashan	Size matters right? Well when you try to ride your poney to find it the size of a mouse, YES! Minor fractures appear in random locations across Scalvaris as creature begin changing size, small becomes big and big becomes small. For whatever reason, nothing already 'big' become bigger, or small becomes smaller, but for a single trial there are reports of the shocking phenomenon for all walks of life.Open

	Ashan’s Walk Festival	61st Ashan	This marks the middle of the season and the people of Scalvoris undertake a pilgrimage of sorts. From a set point in their town / village to the main place of worship, people lay petals on the ground in honour of the Immortal Ashan. All shops and businesses are closed on this trial, so that everyone can experience freedom ~ it is said that the only people who toil on Ashan's Walk are healers and undertakers.Open

	Insect Repellent	65th Ashan	Those who took part in Ashan's Walk - or who took time to smell the flowers, etc, find themselves to be the target of what seems, at first, to be an insect attack. Namely, they will have small bee-like creatures (except green and blue stripes, not yellow and black) attracted to them and these insects will sting them. They are very determined, these small flying creatures. Once they have been stung three times, the insects leave. It isn't a swarm or anything, but there are a few of them around the individual trying to sting them until either the day ends, or they've been stung. Those who are NOT stung, for whatever reason, start to feel unwell. (Modded / modnoted for those who are NOT stung - either by circumstance or because they repel the insect. Please PM Peg).Moderated

	Naming Trial Festival	80th Ashan	On this trial, parents across Idalos celebrate the births from the arc before and formalise the name(s) for each child. This is a trial which is personal to each family but often extended families will get together to have a large party, thereby making sure that all children are celebrated and that family members don't need to choose whichOpen

	Ilaren’s Trial Festival	100th Ashan	This is a trial for drinking and celebrations. On this trial it is usual for drinking to begin at dawn and to continue throughout the trial until dawn the next trial. Anyone that manages to drink for the entire period is said to be smiled upon by Ilaren herself. In true respect to the Immortal, there tend to be a lot of fights during this period, also.Open

	Couriers of Lisirra Discovery!	108th Ashan	The Couriers of Lisirra have been being studied by the University throughout this cycle, following a noted change in behaviour and colouration during Cylus. On 108th Ashan, they release their findings that, in fact, the fungus which is growing inside the Couriers is a strange new substance which seems to be a very potent anti-toxin. There are still many questions about how this happened and when, but no one can answer those questions easily. Open

	Ralaith’s Trial Festival	120th Ashan	This is dedicated to Ralaith and is also called the "Trial of Forgiveness". It is considered very bad luck to go into Ymiden holding a grudge or anger against another, so in Ralaith's name this is the trial where grudges are put to one side and wisdom, hopefully, takes over. Unfortunately, bitterness has been known to overcome forgiveness and so a large number of duels happen on this trial, also. Traditionally, if you wish to spend the arc without arguing or growing bitter with someone, on this trial you give a confection, usually chocolateOpen

Ashan: 123 Trials

Natural Phenomena

With Ashan's first dawn, light returns to the island. This brings with it an enormous sense of relief.
And it seems that the sheep, goats, and other animals with wool and fur are making an annual thing of their rainbow coats. Those with coats, this season, find that if the coat is shorn, then it is back in full growth in 3 trials.

Weather

The beginning of Ashan is rigidly cold on Scalvoris, starting with a cold period which lasts for a quarter of the season before the temperature finally heats up enough to begin sowing crops for the arc. The remainder of Ashan is spring weather. Barren trees slowly sprout buds of leaves and flowers and those who work the land plant in preparation once again. The 123 trials of Ashan are cold but moderate weather. As the season progresses, rain clouds become a common thing and Scalvoris experiences Ashan Storms, a common occurrence especially at the height of the season. Eventually, the storms pass and the temperature begins to heat up. As the season closes, the temperature rises, ushering in stronger storms and much hotter weather. This arc, Ashan is very mild and all signs are of a bumper harvest!

Skies

There are a number of meteor showers which land in the waters around Scalvoris - out to sea quite a way. But still. Unlike those in previous arcs, these are red and angry looking Open
Throughout the season, lots of creatures who would normally live underground make their way to the surface. Wonder why? Open

Almund

This season, Almund has the following specific things for PCs to note:

It seems like nothing that anyone does helps - crime rates are up Open
There are rumours that, nestled in the Glass Tree there is a small note written by Cassion himself, leaving his wishes for the arc. Plot Point
The former owner of the Almund Bazaar Jacien is rumoured to be staging a coup against the newly-appointed Alberach. Open
Almund does NOT take well to the new changes by Kura - there are whispers that she is trying to take over Scalv and that there was no discussion in the council Open

ScalvTown

Almund

This season, Scalvoris Town has the following specific things for PCs to note:

As the rumours of trouble grow, people start to leave Open
There is a lot of stockpiling and quite a few cases of lootingOpen
There's an increase in the break-out of fights etc. Tensions are high. Open
Scalvoris Town has MIXED reactions to the new changes by Kura - there are whispers that she is trying to take over Scalv and that there was no discussion in the council, for sure, but there are many who trust her and say that she's earned that. However this is generally more "academic" and means that things are much more about debate and discussion. Mostly.Open

Harvrdr

Almund

This season, Harvardr has the following specific things for PCs to note:

The survivors band together - and turn to Rorom for leadership Open
They don't like the idea of the walls - they're pro better defences but are very vocal about wanting defences to be more specific. Open
Harvardr has MIXED reactions to the new changes by Kura - they want action, don't trust government, generally and also - what does the Council have to do with them?Open

Faldrass
