The Nine Runes
The most common ruins are those based off the Original beings, though many would not know that and only know what the ruin letters mean. This set of ruins is the most basic though others are more complex, such as those based off the Common alphabet, or readers own native tongue. Often those meanings are given based off key words or Immortals to gather a reading and a personal to the individual and how they read them.
- An: Ruin, conquest, injustice, lies, turmoil, destruction
- At: Strategy, isolation, language, knowledge, power, intelligence
- Br: Justice, judgement, truth, equality, balance
- Ci: Shadows, souls, spirituality, life, death, resurrection
- De: Magic, mirage, illusion, dreams, nightmares, the unknown
- Fe: Hope, light, courage, leadership, bonds, auras
- Lu: Nobility, honor, forgivness, grudges, ambition, prosperity
- Pi: Chaos, duality, greed, vanity, materialistic, sight
- Blank: The ninth ruin can be good or bad, blank of any letting one side is black and the other white, depending on the side can determine whether the situation being read is a good one or bad one.
This is the practice of using regular cards in replacement of a Tarot Deck. Much like a Tarot deck, each card, and suit has a symbology though in this case it is usually specific to the owner of the deck as different card decks have different suits, number of card, etc.
Layouts
These three forms of divination all have similar and inter changeable layouts, some fortune tellers will create their own layouts but the most common are The Three, The Seven, The Yes or No and The Pentagram. There is a fourth layout that all but the runes used called The Triad, a layout of twenty one cards representing the past, present, and future. There are many other layouts, some customary to culture, race, personal style, etc. but these are the most well-known and used.
- The Three: the most basic of all layouts, three cards are chosen in the manner of the readers or querent choice. Each card representing the past, present, and future. Being the simplest of layouts it also gives the simplest of readings and is not meant for in-depth questions and thereby it is unlikely and unable to read more complex questions.
- The Seven: while still a basic layout can answer much more complex questions with three of the cards being past, present, and future, one to symbolize hidden influences, one for querent, one for others, and the final being for the most likely outcome. While it can give the most likely outcome, that is not the only outcome and the querent would do well to remember that.
- The Pentagram: is considered one of the most influential though still simple. A pentagon meant to symbolize direction much like the North Star shape it represents/the elements and the spirit and each of these aspects can be used in interpreting this layout as well.
- The Triad: Using 18 cards the read will lay out six cards in three rows, each row representing the past, present or future.
- The Yes or No: Though the less popular technique used it is similar for both giving a short and precise answer to a very specific question. When used with Tarot the reader will have the querent pull one card usually after cutting and shuffling the deck, with a rune the querent will draw one rune from the lot that calls to them the most.
