Garden Of Remembrance And Thanks
Overlooking the Hollow Sea, near the Scalvoris Town Docks, lies the Garden Of Remembrance And Thanks. Built as a memorial to those who died during the docks collapse, and to those who were involved in the rescue and rebuild, it stands as a testament to the strength of the people of Scalvoris Town. The garden itself is expansive, with enough room for people to enjoy picnics and for children to play. There are also several secluded areas, with benches nestled away in bushes, where people can pay their respects, if they so desire.
At the heart of the garden is a tree, signifying the sacredness of life, offering views along the coast and out to sea. A pond is located nearby, featuring a sculpture made of Egilrun glass. The names of those who died in the collapse are engraved on the sculpture. The stones that surround the pond are engraved with the names of the survivors. A nearby wall of thanks also features engravings, each stone bearing the name of a volunteer who, in some way - big or small - played their part in the wake of the collapse.
The garden is tended to by one such survivor, and the colourful flowers and intermittent birdsong help to breathe life into a place built to remember the dead.
