The Menagerie
The Menagerie is, in fact, on the outskirts of Scalvoris Town. It takes up a large area of land just to the north of the town and is visible from the docks. The most noticeable thing about the Menagerie is the large tree which towers into the skyline. An enormous old tree of a type no one recognises and, allegedly, unique on Idalos houses a number of small houses and huts. Small being, of course, a relative term as they are habitats for many and varied types of air mounts kept and trained by the Elementals Military, the militia of Scalvoris. There are two lakes, one completely sealed and the other with a tributary into the docks and from there, the Hollow Sea. These lakes are where the water mounts are trained and cared for.
The rest of the Menagerie is given over to the land mounts and the equipment needed to run this operation. Visitors are welcome but the general feeling is of barely ordered chaos, there are inevitably a lot of things flying overhead, running around nearby and the sound of trial by trial work going on.
It's always busy here, there are always people to talk to and there is no doubt, even when seen from approaching ships that the Menagerie is very aptly named.

Elise loves animals, loves her job and really hates people. She would be much happier if she never had to see another person again and could just spend her life amongst her beloved pets. That is what she sees them as, each animal here is hers and she'd really rather that no one took them away. However, she accepts that they must and she gets on with it. She is a surprisingly good teacher to those she accepts, but in order for her to get there, you have to really love animals too.
