Impact Threads

Have you just completed a thread which might have an impact on Scalvoris in some way? Or are you planning on one which could make a difference? Great! We love to hear about those kinds of threads. If you have a thread which fits the bill, please post below. Then, a Scalv Mod will determine the impact and will post it here.

If it is a single thread, post here. If it's a plot or group of threads, please post an overview of the whole plot and all threads involved. Thank you!

When Do I Post Here?
You post in the impact threads if:

1. The thread / story will impact Scalvoris, potentially. There's a question in the code below that says "how will this impact Scalv" - if your answer is "it won't" then don't post here. If there is any impact - put it in and if needs be I'll just say "there's none" on it.

2. If you didn't think it did have any impact but, when it's been reviewed, it gets 10 or more renown.

Please remember. I would rather you post here and I modnoted "no impact" on it than you didn't put up something I would have wanted to see.

Think of it as a means of letting me know what's happening on Scalv this season, to inform the calendar next season.

Base question to consider - have you made an impact? If it's on one person or ten, then I'd rather hear about it. I'm quite happy to put "No Impact" if it doesn't have any. But I'd hate to miss something that your PC should be known for.

Overview / Details: Oram had made some snowshoes after the hailstorm, put them to use after the blizzard. Combined with a kid's toy sled, he has been shuttling firewood and food to snowed-in folks in his travelers' camp.
What impact do you think this might have?: Oram's use of snowshoes and "Snacks on Skids" concept could be a model for other rescue/relief type operations around Scalvoris.
Anything else you want to tell us?: Oram intends to expand his operations in the following trials to retrieve some Yellow Dragon wood for snowed-in folks so they don't have to try to go out for firewood.

Overview / Details: After a very difficult journey to Havardr thanks to dangerous weather and the help of a owed favor, Yeva arrives to the fishing village and uses her diagnosis stone to determine Chief Linca's mysterious affliction - the curse of Lissira. Although a skilled medic, Yeva has little experience with divine illness and fears what will happen if she is unable to break the curse in time. After all, what was Linca working on that earned the Plague Maiden's ire? What will that mean for the people he leads?
What impact do you think this might have?: I assume definite impact on Havardr and its leadership. Then of course, there's the rumor of a prophecy that Linca's wellness is tied to Scalvoris.
Anything else you want to tell us?: Yeva's only initial lead in solving this conundrum was to perhaps reach out to Tio Silver, having worked (loosely, if you could call it that) with him before, expecting him to know something about curses and the Immortals as the Devout. It wasn't until this thread series that she learned he has stepped down from office/left Scalvoris. She still has no idea what his domains are, but after asking a few OOC questions to Trouble, there was interest in perhaps modbombing Yeva just a little with the infamous and infuriating, little godling.

Overview / Details: Over yonder, on Faldrass, the settlement of Hopetoun is established. Along the way, they realise that things have changed since the eruption, and they discover a couple of new, and previously unknown resources: the veil fish, and the Faldrass potato.
What impact do you think this might have?: On Hopetoun, this is significant because they have unique, local sources of food. However, these foods are also new to the Scalvorian palate as a whole, and might be sought by Scalvorian chefs, seeking for something new to add to their menus. Similarly, the discoveries might draw more people to Hopetoun, in search of a good fishing spot or an opportunity to farm potatoes in fertile lands, or to search for other potential previously unknown resources.

Overview / Details: Ari'sora gets fired for her job at Luna's Dream Orphanage for endangering the kids she is supposed to be taking care of due to a consequence she is suffering due to emotional trauma. Specifically this: whenever she has to decide between 3 or more options for any reason, she becomes nauseous enough to throw up and/or dry heave.
What impact do you think this might have?: Felicia is furious enough with Ari'sora for endangering the children (and at a NPC, Ryl'ryn) for allowing her to that as soon as the outing they were supposed to help with was over, she will tell everyone she can that Ari'sora is a child endangering monster who cannot be trusted and that no one should ever hire her for anything.
Anything else you want to tell us?: Ari'sora is a stupid idiot? That, and she didn't mean to endanger anyone. It was her belief that with Ryl'ryn there to handle any decisions that she couldn't deal with she wouldn't be a danger to the kids.

Yesterday, when we talked about this, I believe I was very clear. I said (quoting from our Discord discussion). "I'm sorry. Bottom line as soon as she finds out, Felicia is going to say that a) Ari should have told her then and b) she should sign herself into the order of the adunih and focus on that. They both knew - and they both went out with a group of vulnerable children." The NPC in question is described in the write up as "A kind soul, Felicia is the manageress of Luna's dream, overseeing the care of the children and making sure that the place is run smoothly. She is a well organised woman who seems calm even amidst total chaos." This thread can not be canon. The NPC is played in a way which is entirely inappropriate for that write up. The aspect I am specifically discussing is here: Direct Quote From Thread "You do realize that I can't allow that, don't you? What if something were to happen that required two adults to handle? The odds of that happening with a larger group like that. Did you not consider that?" Ari'sora's eyes widened. She hadn't thought about that, and she was horrified to realize that she hadn't. She and Ryl'ryn watched as Felicia paused, thinking about something. "In fact...I can't let you work with the kids at all. There are too many things that could go wrong with that. Things that could put the kids in danger. No. I'm sorry, but as of this triil, you are no longer welcome at Luna's Dream Orphanage for any reason. I hope that things get better for you...but...even if they do, I need you to understand that you will never be allowed to come work for us again. I just can't take that chance. Nor will I hide what you have just told me. If anyone asks me if I think you will be a good person to hire, I will tell them that you aren't. You are a danger to everyone around you as you are, and I can't believe that you didn't quit the trill that you found out about this." she said angrily. Felicia paused for a trill. "Actually...no. I take part of what I said back. For endangering these kids the way that you have, you deserve the worst suffering possible! So I don't hope that things get better for you. I hope you suffer even more than you are right now, and I hope that your suffering never ends. Not even in death. It's only what you deserve!" Felicia said, her voice rising into a shout that everyone could hear towards the end of it. Ari'sora cringed away from the woman she had come to see as something like a mentor and a friend during the arcs that they had worked together. Ryl'ryn started to protest angrily, but was silenced by an icy glare. "And you! You are no better than she is when it comes to endangering helpless children! That monster shouldn't be allowed anywhere near children at all, and you are enabling her to endanger them! You aren't welcome anywhere near my orphanage either. And in order to protect others from that monster, I'm not going to wait and see if people ask me about hiring her. I'm going to tell everyone I know that she can't be trusted and that no one should ever hire her for anything. Then I'll ask them to tell everyone that they know until the truth about her spreads across the island!" Felicia's eyes widened as she remembered something. "And you told me once that you have kids!" she snarled to Ari'sora, who was now sobbing quietly. "I'm going to go to the Order, or whoever else I have to go to as soon as this outing is over and warn them about you! I'll recommend that they take your kids away for their own safety, and as the matron of an orphanage, they'll listen to me. As a caretaker of children, it is my duty to see that your children are protected from you." she said coldly. "But her sister and I live with her! We will make certain that her kids are safe!" Ryl'ryn protested. "And how am I supposed to believe that? I don't know her sister, and as for you...if you are willing to allow a monster to endanger my kids, then you probably torture any children that you live with for fun! I can't even stand the sight of you monsters! With that, Felicia stormed back to the others. Ari'sora could hear bits and pieces of what she was telling them, but not enough to make sense of it. It didn't matter. The looks of condemnation that Natts and the other adults gave her, and worse, the worried, frightened looks the children gave her told her all that she needed to know. It hurt. Felicia's angry words echoed with truth, and Ari'sora began to see that she had endangered the children that she cared so much about. So she really was the monster that Felicia had accused her of being, and she did deserve every bit of what she was suffering now. Please remove your wealth request, review request, and edit this thread. There are no consequences to it because that is totally not playing the NPC as written or what I told you she would do. Further - she does not have the ability to remove Ari'sora's children from her. I understand that this PC is a victim of abuse, but please do not turn pre-written NPCs into abusers in that way. As I said to you a number of times yesterday, I suggest you focus on the mental health plot for Ari'sora and not her wealth thread.

Overview / Details: In the evening, after the enormous hailstorm has finally let up a bit, a patient who got hit by a hailstone visits Devin, and then another one and another one and another one. He provides treatment, performs a surgery and even asks his roommate who is skilled in animal husbandry to help him with a dog that got hit by hailstones, because the veterinarian was not available (not in the treatment room, of course, because hygiene is important) because that's what a doctor that is worth his grain of salt does.
What impact do you think this might have?: People know that there is a dedicated and conscentious doctor in Scalvoris Town that they can even visit in the evening, during a hailstorm.
Anything else you want to tell us?: Devin can occasionally be nice and helpful (while still being vain and greedy)!

Overview / Details: Oram goes to investigate rumors that Tarnborg, proprietor of the Lemon Messy, is a Mortal Born of Cassion. Finds out he is not, and it's just something he made up.
What impact do you think this might have?: Oram has promised and decided not to tell anybody; he figures that's between Tarnborg and Cassion. However, he suggested that, if Tarnborg wants to sell this rumor, he should at least spin a decent story about it. Maybe Leevan Klepe (a cameo NPC in the thread) can write a Ballad of the Cassion Kid or something that becomes well known. And who knows? Maybe Cassion wants to weigh in.
Anything else you want to tell us?: Oram's a tad out of character in this thread because the spaghetti western motif I went with in writing it kinda got away from me. :p

Overview / Details: Woe's former slave (freed by him now) decides to join the Order of Adunih. He goes to help her translate her intenetions (She only speaks Vahanic). He ends up getting roped into joining the Order, and splits funding on the new outpost for the order in Egilrun.
What impact do you think this might have?: Moderate to major, for having a large complex in Egilrun that will be dedicated to healing and training healers.
Anything else you want to tell us?: His slave was freed by him before moving to Scalvoris

Consequences of this: Woe is now very trusted in Egilrun and will be able to find things out much more easily. Woe will be approached by people asking for help (feel free to make plots out of this) and a small group of people start suggesting that he should be the Egg (the Egilrun representative on Scalvoris Council). Overview / Details: Upon hearing news of the crop crisis on the main island of Scalvoris, Darius gathers a stockpile of food from Faldrass and delivers it to the Isonomia members at Cally's. Faldrass has extremely fertile lands and is not impacted by the crisis in the same manner. All in all, he delivers enough food for 30 people on Scalvoris (as per Trouble's assessment).
What impact do you think this might have?: For the majority of Scalvorians, this would have no impact at all, but those 30 hungry mouths would certainly appreciate the donation! Increased awareness of Hopetoun, veil fish, and the Faldrass potato. Perhaps an increase in Darius' reputation if word gets around.
Anything else you want to tell us?: Outside of the citizens of Hopetoun, these 30 people are the first to taste veil fish and Faldrass potato!

Overview / Details: Balthazar and Darius are requested by Faldrass and Saiore to establish settlements on the island of Faldrass so that refugees from the eruption can establish a new home.
What impact do you think this might have?: While the involvement of Faldrass and Saiore is to remain a secret, both Balthazar and Darius would have an improved reputation as being willing to lead these settlements. Also, the Libertalia might become known as one of the vessels that launched this endeavour.
Anything else you want to tell us?: I want to know what's in those little gift boxes Saiore gave each of us, but I guess we'll have to wait!
