[Krome] So, we meet again!

Fridgar crossed his arms the sword was a pretty good idea in all fairness, but Frid couldn't much aim light objects. He scratched his chin. "Hmm... Maybe, but I'm a crap aim." He confessed, blunt. His eyes turned to xander, looking him up and down without moving his head. "I've got a better idea. I'm gonna use some magic, you probably won’t be able to see much of the detail, but I'll get taller, broader, stronger and really hairy. Oh, I won’t be able to speak much either, okay? Just, don't freak out." Fridgar quickened his ether, his first unleash for the day in preparation. "Oh yeah, and I'd appreciate not making eye contact." He warned before initiating the transformation.

In the shadows, Xander could see his body grow massively in height, standing eight and a half feet tall and broadening significantly. In truth, he'd blended the bear and Fridgar totems to make his signature were-bear. He stood eight and a half feet tall, covered with a thick pelt of fur and wore a thick skin that worked for both keeping him warm and protection against slashing and some impact attacks. His musculature, that too amplified significantly, a monstrously hulking beast that could undoubtedly crush a human skull with a single massive clawed digit. "Aerrrrrnnn Fawwwrrrr Brrrawrrrryy" The beast spoke, facing Xander but avoiding eye contact. It would be tragic if he triggered the beast. He'd tried to say 'Aim For Body' but speaking was difficult when your mouth and vocal cords have been blended with a wild animals, a bear of all things.

He shrugged, Xander would figure it out. Gently, he took hold of Xander by the waist "Rrrrrrerry?" He asked before it occurred to him that he might not have spoken his plan to Xander in a way that he would understand. Again, Xander would figure it out, he was a smart guy... he hoped. After Xander's response, whatever it had been, he'd hold onto the man with one hand, extending his grip all the way back readying for an overarm throw. With his other hand, he aimed as if to follow through. Then, with one swift exertion of force, he'd thrown his body forward with his arm travelling overhead, releasing Xander and sending him flying for the sleeping Volareon.

Whether he stabbed it or not, it would have been knocked from the tree at his sudden collision in a startled squawk. Failing to take off, it would fall to the floor and have a heavy foot hold its wing in place. Provided Xander didn't grab hold of the branch, he'd fall straight into the man-bears waiting arms. "Shiiiirrrk" he'd declared before letting the human down. He reached over, maintaining his hold on the creature's wing while it scrambled frantically, only to be swiftly silenced with the sharp 180 degree turn of its head by Fridgar's paws.

Provided The human hadn't made eye contact, he'd turn back into a Lothar with a second unleash. He looked to Xander with a smile "That was awesome! Well done, dude!" He congratulated. "Say, why don't you drag the beasty? I'll show you the right form." Fridgar positioned himself at the front of the beast and lowered into a squat, keeping his back straight, he leaned back and utilised his eight, pressing into the soil by his heels and keeping a light bend in his knees. His stance was wide and his head was parallel He pressed by fully extending his legs and leaving into the pull. "Alright, now you give it a try. make sure you keep your back straight and your stance wide or you might hurt yourself." Fridgar instructed, taking his position behind the creature. Xander wouldn't be able to drag the creature by himself, in all likeliness, Fridgar would aid with a gentle press of his foot every so often, but he wanted Xander to exert himself in this exercise.

[Krome] So, we meet again!

Xander made sure to avoid meeting Fridgar's eyes as he had been told. Instead he just watched the man grow in size tremendously, it was dark but Xander could make out the beasts outline. His stomach turned and if he hadn't know this creature was in fact Fridgar he would have run far and as fast as he could. He was hard to scare, it was true, but even he could not deny he felt afraid now. Who wouldn't when stood before a creature you couldn't even look into the eyes of, it was unnerving. So Xander kept his gaze low and away from the eyes of the creature, it was both fascinating and terrifying to see someone suddenly transform like that.

Xander tried to understand the words the creature spoke, they sounded more like grunts and growls than words. Even as he listened closely and tried to decipher the words it was no use. He just shrugged kept holding out the blade, however, he was taken by surprise when the man grabbed his waist and hurled him up into the tree. He had not been expecting it but he thought he knew what he was supposed to do, even if he had had no idea what the man was saying to him prior to the act.

So he kept the blade out ahead of him, keeping the blade tip pointed at the Volareon. He felt it impact first the sharp point piercing and forcing its way through the flesh of the bird like creature. He could feel the blade bounce off a few bones as it moved through the body of the elegant beast. He was surprised by the hideous screech it made, it pierced his ears and made him grimace as he impacted into the creature once the blade was in to the hilt.

Xander and the creature fell together each moving towards Fridgar. Xander's eyes were closed as the beast impacted first he had released the blade now and it remained in the side of the squawking creature which landed first. He was caught in the large arm of the man-beast, not as soft as he would have liked but better than the hard frozen ground. He was released from the creatures arm as it broke the neck of the Volareon in one fell swoop.

Xander kept looking away until he heard the normal voice of Fridgar return which was accompanied by a smile. "I might say more terrifying than awesome but thanks." He let out a nervous laugh as he retrieved his sword and cleaned it in the beasts fur and feathers. He then went ahead and followed Fridgar's instructions, squatting and taking hold of the creature while keeping his back straight. He pulled hard and deep pushing from his legs to move the creature a little barely but just noticeable. His muscles burned in protest, screaming at him as he pulled again, continuing to barelt move the creature as he pulled over and over. His arms legs and stomach quivered and shook from the effort as they struggled to tug the creature around.

When he'd said that the man didn't scare easy, he'd soon realised that was an understatement. Xander hadn't even much reacted when he'd been thrown into a Volareon. As tasty as the beast looked and as brave as Xander was, he'd spare the fragile human the gore. Perhaps the human wasn't as much brave as he was stupid? He'd put himself in a lot of danger over the time he'd been with Fridgar, even after the Lothar had threatened him.

He was a cool dude though, even if he thought he was king at one point in trials prior. Fridgar continued his press into the beast, only when Xander had struggled enough "Good, keep it up." He encouraged what was apparently his student in gains. "You're almost there, keep pulling." Came the giants voice once more, it was important that he kept up the strain on his muscles as to tear the fibres of his muscles, he wanted to see sweat. "Don't give up, you're better than that." The Lothar offered subtle praise to encourage the human further. In truth, he was pushing the beast entirely, but Xander was putting in the effort.

Finally, they reached the outskirts of the village they'd left. Fridgar halted. "You did good, Xander." the Lothar nodded, the shining of his eyes fading as his echo wore off, just in time apparently. "Now, make sure you stretch off, stretching out your muscles after working them reduces the cramp and increases the muscle gain." He explained, then demonstrated various stretching techniques for the human. Once satisfied, Fridgar would explain "Right, I’m heading off to Andaris. Keep up the training and I might fly over here to check up on your progress when I've got the time." The Lothar explained with a turn of his paw. "Also..." he sighed, "I'm sorry."

It wasn't every trial, or even every arc that he apologised to someone, but he was trying to change for the better, and apologising for things he'd done wrong seemed like a good area to improve. "For throwing a door at you and threatening you." He grit his teeth, that had hurt a lot more than he'd though it would to say. Finally, he waved the human off as he left. He'd grab hold of the Volareon and lift it over his shoulders, it wasn't too heavy for him, he could probably manage another, maybe two more even.

With everything in place, he set off into a run for home. Alistair would be returning soon, he just prayed he'd teleport to him so that he didn't have to run with the beast for trials straight.

XP Award!
Fridgar:

Experience Award:
  • Story 3/5
  • Structure 5/5
  • Collaboration 5/5
General Lore:
  • Flying: Adjusting to a Hawk's Wingspan
  • Flying: Swoops
  • Flying: Landings
  • Climbing: Difficult for wood to support your weight when climbing a tree.
  • Tracking/Hunting (pick one): Xander's smell
  • Teaching: Proper ways to drag a corpse
  • Teaching: Dietary advice
  • Rynmere: Volareon's are Protected Species
  • Volareons: Adolescents prefer tree perches for slumber
  • Becoming: Echo a Bear's Sense of Smell
  • Strength: The Throwing Balance of a Human

Notes: This experience can NOT be used for magic. Your are a master at Becoming. Magic exp is decided if your thread matches your current experience. Otherwise it would be easy to make a lot of flashback threads when you were a novice and push up your magic without challenging yourself with later forms and harder power. You have no skill points in flying and only a few lores. It should not be easy for Fridgar to fly or advisable at all. Flying is a skill like any other and soaring around and landing neatly and easily is not playing to your skill level. For any new form in Becoming, there is adjustment. You do not naturally fly, so learning how is actually paramount to your success in any flying form.

Macronutrients and such are not concepts that actually exist at this time period. Omega 3 acids don't even make vernacular sense. A balanced diet, the food pyramid, a lot of what you're talking about is not appropriate for the time period. Sustainable weight loss, proteins (Which were first described in 1838). I also believe this information would fall under science or cooking or anything with a study of food and diet. Not only do you not have the lore to back up the information you're giving but you also don't have any points in a requisite skill which would explain how Fridgar had studied microbiology. You showed me the thread where this came up at first. I apologize, I did not see it anywhere in your lores to know where it had come from. For the future, Microbiology is not appropriate for this time period. It requires scientific advancements not consistent with the genre.

The second point I took for this whole Volaeron hunt. You walked into a forest and immediately found one in a tree. They're a protected species, not hyper populous. While I am not adverse to you finding and murdering one to get at its totem, I am adverse to them literally falling into your lap without an ounce of prep work. You should have studied them, learned about their habits, territory, hunting patterns and THEN mounted an expedition to find one. It was a little lazy to approach one this way. Despite using your sense of smell, I would remind you that you've never smelled a Volareon before, so tracking it by scent wouldn't exactly follow. I won't take the actual corpse away from you...but a beast the size of a horse should and could have put up more of a fight. Another note, you cannot easily carry three on your back while running through the woods. You are at legendary strength, I recognize that, but the combined weight (And not just weight but where the weight is spaced, which is important) would be just shy of the most weight a man has recordingly lifted...not trekked miles with. Fridgar IS bigger than any dude and I can give him that leeway, but consider where the weight is in a body. If it was all focused in one area it might be easy to carry, but a body is limp and not super easy to move conventionally. Just a note there, really. I took two points in all from story for the reasons stated above. I previously had taken four points but after discussion, I realize this isn't consistent with review guidelines and I may have inadvertently insulted you or your commitment and work to this story. I apologize for that, as it was not my intent. I have added two points back to the grade. However my decision to not let it be used for magic remains.

Also, reminder, you're using Blending wrong again. I assume this was written around the same time as the last thread you did so I didn't penalize you again for it, but technically all that was Borrowing which is MUCH more costly.

I note you also leave with one Volaeron corpse. Due to the ease at which you killed it, I will say it is an adolescent of the species, not nearly at the full size, but one larger than a pony or mule. ((In which case I retract my earlier weight statement...you MIGHT be able to tramp along for awhile with three young Volaerons))

General Knowledge:
  • Fridgar: The Lotharro who hurled the Door
  • Fridgar: Mage
  • Fridgar: Capable of Transformation
  • Fridgar: Has acquired your scent
  • Fridgar: Can apparently fly
  • Fridgar: Can easily lift you with one arm and throw you.
  • Strength: The proper way to drag a corpse
  • Strength: Stretching is important to avoid injury
  • Volareon: Adolescents prefer tree beds
  • Magic: Mages have eye abnormalities
  • Cooking: The importance of a meat based diet

Notes: I am sorry that I cannot give you much lore for the nutritional stuff Frid told you, but it doesn't really make sense that he had it. Obviously if you breathe a word about your part in killing a Volaeron it could go rather poorly for you, especially if it also came out that you accompanied a criminal wanted by the King to murder a protected creature XD
