3rd Cylus 717

With ignorance toward the bitter cold, Fridgar pressed on at Rey'na's side. How could he be a wet blank on an occasion like this? Him and Rey'na were finally getting to work together, a test of their compatibility? Uh oh. While he hadn't been worried before, he certainly was now - what if he messed up the mission for her and made her look like a fool in front of her friends? No, this wasn't the time for nerves. This was the time for action, the time to impress Rey'na with how much stronger he'd gotten since the trials he'd landed himself in bed-rest. "So, who's the target?" he asked casually, keeping his eyes forward. He couldn't recall whether Rey'na had told him already, but it was probably for the best that he was told once again.

She'd brought with her two Assassins from her guild. Whoever the poor bastard was, he'd gone and earned himself a death sentence to have three assassins and a thug sent to his doorstep. He grinned at the thought 'Thug.' he was totally a thug. Fridgar was adorned with a set of cheap clothing he'd picked up the trial prior in preparation - it was likely he'd have to unleash during this mission and didn't want to ruin his leathers. It would almost be a blessing to shred these clothes, they were uncomfortable and looked bad - but they would serve their purpose. With a pop of his knuckles, he asked "Is he hardcore then? To have three of you guys assigned to him, he's gotta be, right?". A twisted grin formed at the corner of his mouth as he maintained his forward view "Ilaren, I hope so."

It had been a while since he'd gotten in a scrap that left him bloody, the last being John Walker, but even then - he didn't last against the Grizzly. Keeping the potential promise of a powerful foe in mind, the four of them pressed onward into the snowy streets of Andaris during Cylus. The dark days mixed with the constant howling of the wind made it feel like more of a ghost town than a bustling city, there certainly weren't many people about in Mid-Town to prove him wrong either. Perhaps it was just the time of trial? The evenings were a lot colder than the rest of the trial had been, the kind of cold that not many people would bother with. Looking about the houses they passed, scornfully, he came to realise that families were all cuddled up next to their fires beyond the walls, he sighed.

Rey'na didn't seem like the type who would appreciate a cuddle around the fire, but maybe if he became a wolf... he shook his head. A tough nut to crack she was, even the flowers he'd bought her two trials ago - she didn't seem to get the gesture. If he became a wolf to cuddle with her, it'd more than likely fly over her head. Maybe you just needed to be blunt about it? 'Dude, just ask her out already - NO WAIT DON'T!!!! That's a terrible idea!' argued his thoughts. Taking his eyes from the homes, he passed a glance to Rey'na, smiling warmly before continuing the press forward. 'Dammit, dude. You should be psyching yourself up for a fight, not getting all soft and romantic like - think about violence or something' he considered.

Mindlessly, he looked around the corner at a cross roads and saw a familiar, blue face. It was Sintih! He was with two other guys. He'd call out to him but him and Rey were on a mission, so, he just kept walking. At the last trill of his forward turn, he saw what looked like a fighting stance. Double-taking, Fridgar turned his head back to Sintih, just in time to see one of the two men throw a punch at him. He stared in disbelief for a moment before calling "Rey!" keeping his eyes on Sin. "The mission is gonna have to wait, Sintih's in trouble!" he roared, before running down the street at full speed toward their Eidisi friend.

Loose Ends Part 1: Reunion

Rey held her knife out in front of her, looking at how it glimmered in the light. Her black dress decorated her body, the leather mask covering her eyes and nose. It was Cylus, the boss had been certain that nobody would be out. Somewhere nearby, their allies were waiting - so they didn't draw suspicion. She'd heard rumors that one of their best members were with them today, a crossbowman - a good one. Ex military, practiced for days and seldom missed a target. She grinned, hoping to see that in action.
"A small man, not particularly important. Mostly just wanted for scamming some people of drugs. He isn't the problem" she explained to all of Fridgar's excited questions. "His money is. He has guards, a fair few of them. Rumor has it he bribed some high ranking military to protect him, and they get a chunk of his shares. They'll be the problem. Well, potential. But we have enough, I think the four of us can take on all of them."

She kept her eyes peeled for a signal to move, waiting patiently for it. They were taking their time, and if Fridgar asked any more pointless questions she'd see to it that he was their next target. That being said, she couldn't help but smile at the thought. Not of his corpse, but of his questions. Annoying, yes. Adorable, even more so. He was naive at times, and she loved it about him. Kind of like a puppy.
"Let's go" she said quietly, ready to leave the alley, ignoring what he was looking at. She didn't particularly care, until he spoke up. By spoke she meant shouted. Her eyes met the crossbowman on the small rooftop, glancing to her friend in trouble. He looked to where her gaze was, then back to her, nodding with understanding. When he raised an eyebrow, she shook her head. She didn't want his help, not now at least. She had full faith that he could do his own thing anyway.

Rey looked to see that Fridgar was right, Sintih was in a spot of bother - it seemed. But she wasn't worried. Her and Fridgar could handle this. Besides, she had a mask. She ran forward as well, watching as Fridgar dealt with the first man. As his eyes were fixed on Fridgar she swung at him, blade going through his stomach with relative ease. She was getting better at this.
"Sintih" she said, looking at him and pulling her knife out. "Run, now, we need to go somew-" she said to him. Before finishing her sentence, a hand grabbed her hair and pulled her back, taking her by surprise. She found herself thrown to the floor as the man went to kneel above her. Blood dripped near her new dress. Not again.
Rey quickly moved aside to be next to the man, before standing to her feet and driving the knife through his shoulder. Her eyes looked wild as they then looked back up to Sintih. When she had started to stand, her mask had fallen off, and was soaked with blood.

Loose Ends Part 1: Reunion

hy did he even leave the house during Cylus? The permanent night of the season only made the permanent snow colder. Even the winter clothes and his cloak couldn't fully stop the cold from reaching his crystal body. It mattered not how tightly he pulled the cloak around him or how often he rubbed his arms or hands underneath it. Genush was still in a worrying state after all this time and Sin had gone out to find some medicine for him. There was only so much that bird food could do for him. A nasty smelling pack of freshly killed mice and other critters that he could eat had been supplied to Sin after scouring the library for a trial yesterday and finally finding a place that sold the things he needed. Despite the awful smell, Sin didn't seem bothered by it as he trudged through the snow. Why had he come out?

In his hurry to get back home, Sin hadn't noticed that someone had been following him once he'd left the library. His focus had been on the cold and Genush that he hadn't seen anything else. In the semi-darkness it wasn't too difficult to keep out of sight either. Before long the person following him was joined by a second one and they kept tailing Sin, seeing where he want and following in his footsteps. With their hats and coats it was difficult to say who they were except that they were of average human height, which meant they could be any of a dozen races but definitely not Tunawa. They followed him for several bits, around several corners.

"Hey!" A voice called out from behind him. Sin kept trudging through the snow, ignoring the voice, thinking it for someone else. "Hey, Eídisi!" The voice was louder and more specific, aimed directly at him. Sin felt a little irritated at the interruption and the use of his race as an indicator of who the person was talking to. He stopped and looked behind him at the two figures stepping up. A strong gust of wind pulled the hood of his cloak back, revealing Sin's delicate features to the cold of the snow. His hair, usually tied up in a clean ponytail, was being whipped around by the wind. "What's wrong?" He asked, yelling a little louder than necessary to overcome the wind.

The location didn't feel really safe and as the two men stepped up to him, the feeling was confirmed. These men didn't have good intentions. Perhaps they were using the lack of people, and thus guards, as a chance to rob someone and he was just unlucky enough. When one of the figures stepped up to him, the wind blew his cloak open a little and the man's hand on his weapon was quite clear. "Wait. I want to enjoy this." The second one stepped up to Sin, suddenly throwing a punch out of his cloak. It took him by surprise as the fist connected with cold front of his face, knocking him back a few steps. In the moment of the punch, all Sin could think of was how familiar the man looked as his fist connected. Had they met somewhere before?

With the staggering effect of the punch, Sin stumbled back, dropping his pouch into the snow. He brought his hands up in a haphazard defense to block the next attack. He managed to block a second punch, cursing himself for having left his weapon at home. Before the next punch could be thrown and blocked a flurry of hairy rushed out of the dark and into the fight, roaring above the sound of the wind cutting through the empty street. For a moment, Sin thought more people were here to rob him but the man seemed focused on the attacker. Enemy of my enemy, right? Before he could turn to look at the second guy, a masked person jumped into the fight as well and cut the first guy open.

The masked figure turned to look at him and spoke, a female voice, somewhat distorted by the mask and the wind, sounded from behind him, telling him to run. Before she could finish her words, the man she'd cut stood up behind her and pulled her down to the ground. In the quick exchange that followed, the woman lost her mask and Sin had to re-evaluate his thoughts on Rey for the second time. The first time, she'd been more feisty than expected and had shown up in a place he had never expected her to be. This time, however, Sin had no idea what to think as the woman showed up, masked, jumped into a fight and cut a man open, sloppily, but cut him none the less.

He wasn't really sure why he called out. It wasn't like he cared if the attackers died or not. Maybe he wanted to preserve a little bit more of the original image of Rey'na. Maybe he'd spent too much time with honorable and noble knights and they were starting to rub of on him. Or maybe his recent campaign had shown him a little too much death and destruction and he didn't want to see more for the time being. Whichever one it was, it caused Sin to call out to Rey'na. "Stop! Don't kill them." He stepped forward, trying to stop Rey from finishing the man off. In the heat of the moment, with adrenaline heating him up and sharpening his senses, the fluttering of a cloak higher up caught his eye.

In direct contrast with the white snow, the black silhouette of a man was hunkering down on a nearby, low, roof, aiming a crossbow down at them. Or past them towards the only other fight going on in the street. More in reaction than because of a solid, planned decision, Sin focused on the roof, the space being occupied by the crossbowman. In front of Rey'na's eyes, Sin suddenly disappeared, only leaving behind a barely visible cloud of purple smoke that dissipated quickly. As the world seemed to slow down through his purple colored vision, Sin felt himself being pulled upwards to the roof. Time and color reasserted themselves as he appeared out of nowhere on the roof, crashing into the man's weapon. It fired but Sin couldn't see if the shot had been successful or not.

Before Sin could properly react and take up a defense, a foot put itself square against his stomach and forced him backwards. The roof provided very little in the way of grip for him to try and resist the kick with. As the solid footing turned to open air underneath his feet, the man's features were lit up by a dull, dark light coming from various cracks in his face. The next moment Sin hit the snow covered ground with a thud and the man was gone, replaced with a small dark cloud that quickly dissipated. There was a dull thumping feeling spreading through his shoulders and back but Sin ignored it as he rolled over and quickly spun around, checking to see where the crossbowman was at. If they hadn't been in the middle of a hectic fight, Sin's ability to stand up so quickly after getting thrown off a roof, even a low one such as this, would've raised a few questions with the others.

Loose Ends Part 1: Reunion

Image
Snarling fiercely, Fridgar collided with the first male, punching him with a hook to the shoulder and forcing his turn around from Sintih. The human didn't look too impressed and almost immediately shifted his aggression to the giant Lothar. Fridgar took a step back and widened his stance before jabbing him in the face with his left, the human had probably seen red before taking a dagger to the gut and being sent straight to the floor. Rey's hand had was the driving force of the strike. He nodded to her before the male dragged her to the floor despite his gut wound. Eyes Wide, Fridgar ran up a full swing with his leg prepared to boot the bastard's lights out before being tackled to the floor mid swing.

Regaining the breath that had been knocked from his breath, Fridgar looked to his attacker to see the other male that had attacked Sintih. 'Crap, how did you forget about him? You dummy!' he thought before swiftly punching into the guy's side, just below the ribs. He bared his teeth as the familiar sting of knuckles on leather armour filled his bones. With a twisted grin, the human sat up on his stomach and beat mercilessly into Fridgar's face for a trill before he raised his arms to block. Growling, he bided his time. 'How the hell do you get out of this one, your punches do jack all!?' His thoughts drifted as his forearms absorbed shock after shock of kinetic energy. Where did Sintih go? Did he run? Saying that, Sintih had been a bit of a wuss when fighting him as a bear. It's quite possible that he ran.

Fridgar tried to shift the weight above him with sheer core strength to no avail. If only he could use his hands, he'd be able to grapple the man to death - if that was a thing. "KNOCK IT OFF!" he roared, startling the man for a trill. This was it, his chance. With a thrust of his hips and the tensing of his abdomen, he lifted the male from the floor and turned over, slamming the male into the iced ground with his full body weight and the weight of Fridgar's strength. Without hesitating, he slammed his fists into the man’s abdomen with a hammer like motion, using the flesh on the underside of the fist to cushion his bones. While he'd forced the air from the man's lungs with his strikes, he wasn't doing much else than hurting himself against the human's armour.

He crawled forward for a trill, aiming to crush the human's windpipe. He wasn't having any of it and swiftly threw Fridgar to the side when he regained his breath along with a curiously distant clicking noise. A crunch echoed through the street and the human's body jolted with it before spasming in Fridgar's grasp for a few trills then going limp. "What? You alright up there dude?" he asked before punching the male with a hook to the jaw and throwing him aside. He scrambled to his feet and assumed his fighting stance, watching curiously as the man didn't budge from the position he'd been throw into. Completely oblivious to the man's death, Fridgar assumed he'd just landed a well-aimed strike and knocked him out cold. His breathing and heart rate had picked up significantly in that fight, but his throat hadn't burned or bled like in previous trials, maybe he was just better? That would be ideal, it would save him from having to get Rey'na worried.

The 'flump' of a body in the snow caught his attention, for a split trill Fridgar looked about in confusion before seeing a Sintih shoot up from the snow and some sort of black smoke on the rooftop. By now, Rey had already dealt with the the man or had gone and forced his early bleed out by struggling for that long with a shoulder and gut wound. With a seriously look in his eye, Fridgar approached Rey'na and offered his hand to help her up. 'Dude, teach her to fight or something, that was way too close.' his eyes fell to her apologetically. "Are you alright?" He maintained eye contact with Rey'na before looking to Sintih too. "Both of you, are you alright?" he asked, breathing quite heavily from his nose as he recovered from the wrestling and strain on his core muscles.

Loose Ends Part 1: Reunion

Rey stopped herself from landing a killing blow on the man as Sintih called out to her. She wanted to end his life, and at the same time wanted to throw herself around Sintih. Her two worlds came colliding together, the innocence she so adored feeling crashing with the egg's taunts and hate. Her lust for murder, the thrill of killing a man. It had overwhelmed her, and Sintih had seen it.
"Sintih, I-" Rey started, before the man disappeared in front of her. She looked around and couldn't find him. Her eyes then fell to the man in front of her, who was starting to attempt to stand. Sintih wanted her to spare him, but he was a witness. It was risky to do, he'd seen her face. She pulled out the vial of Scarf Rot she kept with her, before quickly smearing it on her weapon.
As the man got to his feet, Rey went behind him and held him, stabbing the poison coated dagger in to his chest. She held him as his struggled died, slowly becoming quiet, until he eventually passed out. She assumed it was the scarf rot, but she knew the man was on his last legs - it could be blood loss. She stepped back, lowering him down gently.

"I'm fine" Rey replied to Fridgar, taking his hand before glancing over to Sintih. What now, she asked herself. Did she run away from him, act like it never happened and pray to Lisirra that they would never meet again? Or did she stay and explain why she was murdering people? Those thoughts faded when she realized something. Why did she have to explain when he was the one that got jumped? Better yet, he could teleport. Since when? Her head flooded with all kind of possibilities.
"We have a job to do, we need to get out of here. Sintih, with us - now" she ordered. It wasn't like her, but when she was on the job she took charge when possible. She didn't wait for his response before sheathing her knife again, her eyes glancing at Fridgar with authority.
"You can explain what that was about on the way. Fridgar, bring one of them with us. I have some questions for them."

Loose Ends Part 1: Reunion

uch had changed in the few trills Sin had been in the fight. He rolled over onto his knee and pushed himself up, ignoring the dull thudding feeling in his back and shoulders. The ankle deep snow he rolled over in provided somewhat of a cushion for Sin's fall before but now it was hindering his movement. He staggered as he got back up on his feet, coming face to face with Fridgar who had just taken out his opponent. The buff, hairy man seemed quite alright in this situation. Somehow, Sin didn't think Fridgar was thinking of this as a life or death situation, despite the crossbow bolt being aimed at him or the blood Rey'na had spilled. Rey'na! Sin followed Fridgar as he moved to his side where she had been in a fight.

Fridgar extended his hand and pulled her up to her feet. She seemed to be in good enough shape to respond to his question. It seemed they'd both taken down their opponent. Sin was the only one who hadn't. He turned to look at the two bodies, noticing both were bleeding in the snow from their wounds. He barely registered Rey'na's order as he focused once more and tethered himself up to the highest roof around them, disappearing in another puff or purple smoke that dissipated by the time he'd gained his balance on top of the roof. It was dark and blinking didn't require a direction to follow, one could simply blink and go where they liked as long as they could envision it. A direct visual only helped. "There's another one, a rupturer. He's getting away. Find him!" Sin yelled down to the street below where he'd left Rey'na and Fridgar.

He'd have to have a serious talk with Rey'na after all this was done. As he spun around, trying to see movement around his height, a dull flash of movement and light from the corner of his eye stopped his motion and Sin focused on it. Out of nothing, a figure appeared in the same smoke as he had disappeared in just after kicking Sin off the roof before. "He's heading towards lowtown." He shouted, loud as he wasn't facing the people below him, before disappearing a third time. His tether pulled him across a gap between the house he was on and the next and further onto the next rooftop, in the direction of the rupturer. In chasing him, Sin realized that he'd never actually met another magician with his skills.

His fourth blink brought him closer yet again just before the other one disappeared as well. He could spot him further ahead, coming out of his magic before he seemed to stagger and suddenly go down. Bad footing. Snowy rooftops were treacherous, even for skilled acrobats, something Sin wasn't and, apparently, this person wasn't either. Sin blinked again and reappeared closer to where he'd seen the rupturer last. He had only a trill to confirm the person was struggling before he slipped. The slanted rooftop covered in snow didn't approve of his arrival and Sin fell down, sliding down to the edge. Whether it was practiced cool or simply the fact that he'd already been planning to blink once again, Sin couldn't tell, but instead of trying to reach for something to hold onto and prevent the fall, Sin focused on another point at the edge of his range.

His fifth blink was less of a calculated jump and more of a controlled fall, propelled forward by magic. Despite his best intentions, his landing was less than optimal as he came out stumbling and sliding. With his best arm swinging and counter leaning, Sin tried to maintain his balance but he took a face full of snow on the flat rooftop he was on as he ultimately lost his balance. For a trill, he remained in the cold snow, the heat of the moment balancing out the cold night air and the snow that had found its way down his clothes, before he pushed himself up. The world suddenly slanted as he tried to see where he was going and where his target was. Quick successive use of his magic always brought with it the annoying dangers of overstepping but Sin wasn't sure if the other two would make it, as they'd both been bleeding quite a bit when he'd left them with Fridgar and Rey'na.

Grunting through the dizziness caused by his overstepping, Sin pushed himself up on his feet. He angrily shook his head, trying to get rid of the dizziness, before focusing back on his target. He watched him climb back onto the roof he'd almost slipped off of and for a trill they both looked at each other. In the dark and from this distance, Sin couldn't tell anything about the man but his mind was already trying to come up with answers. If he was climbing back onto the roof then that meant that the target was at the end of his magical rope as much as Sin was, as long as neither of them planned on chancing overstepping even more. Despite their distance, Sin had no way to cross it without using his magic but he didn't want to end up with an arm floating in the space between reality created by his magic. The trill passed and the target turned away, looking for a way to escape.

"Understood!" Fridgar complied with a salute to Rey'na, the smirk he was wearing told the two before him that he was taking the piss. With that, he approached the less-bloody body that he'd somehow punched unconscious in with one blow - to be fair, he was getting stronger. It was only then that he notices that the male was leaking from the back of the head. 'Crap! You punched him way too hard!' cried his thought with a look of worry in his eyes. He knelt town and carefully turned his head over to see a crossbow bolt lodged in the back of his head "What...?" He spoke, looking confused. Had he somehow punched the male so hard that reality warped around the dude and put a crossbow bolt in his head? Probably.

"Uhh, Rey? Is yours alive? 'Cause this one isn't." Fridgar spoke, standing up from his kneel and looking to her. He looked to the stab wound in the male's chest before sighing wistfully. "You know, stabbing people in the chest kills them. You do know, right?" he spoke without taking his eyes from the body in front of him. "Sorry, Rey. But it doesn't look like we're taking any hostages home tonight." he spoke, relieved. He'd be damned if he had to get his clothes all bloody, even if they were the makeshift ones.

He looked to Sintih on the rooftop, bewildered "Whoa, someone else that can use your magic? Are you sure?" it was hard to believe. But he'd already run off - he must have been serious. His eyes fell to Rey'na "Well, do we chase?" he asked with a smile. At her affirmation, he focused his being on the eagle totem and quickened his Ether. "You haven't seen this form yet, I think you'll like it." He spoke through bared teeth as he readied to unleash. He didn't have time to take the long transformation, the guy Sintih was chasing would have gotten away. He looked to the eagle totem around his neck with intent and immediately started transforming. 'What the hell? You didn't even touch it!?' cried his thoughts in confusion. He began to shrink, his shirt, undergarments and boots being taken into the transformation, assimilating them.
Image
Once the transformation was over, he opened his eyes to find that he was buried under his coat like a blanket. He'd always get confused when transforming into a smaller animal. He stepped out from under the coat to look up at Rey'na and squawked, flapping his wings a little to show off the totem he'd recently acquired. With the aid of gravity, he slid his necklace from his neck to the floor and tightened the not a little with his talons before putting it back on. He screeched to Rey'na for a trill then unfurled his wings with a flap, taking off with a jump and catching himself with a second flap of his wings, propelling himself forward and climbing the altitudes until he was above the roof tops.

It was amazing, seeing Andaris from this height. Even if it was perpetually night, he soared in circles for half a bit, building up speed before taking after Sintih at the velocity he felt comfortable with. Flapping his wings only slowed him down, so he tried to soar for most of the flight. Sintih seemed kind of busy with some sort of dizziness as he rapidly approached from behind. He quickened his ether once more, the first unleash had done little to exhaust him, he could manage another easily - perhaps even two more before needing to sleep. Soaring with grace and majesty, he sped past Sintih, his wing mere inches from touching the blue man and screech.

Much at the same time, he initiated the unleash with a glance of intent to his grizzly bear totem, the eagle seemed to explode mid-flight into a huge mass of flesh that quickly grew fur and assumed the shape of a grizzly bear travelling at a rapid speed of 55 miles per hour and crashing into the male that had been looking for an escape.
Image
He didn't slow down as he'd hoped he would however, he roared with horror as gravity quickly claimed him and took him through the roof the male had been standing on, crushing the person's body between his massive form and the clay tiles, shattering a few bones of his own in the process as he fell through into the ceiling of the house with a great deal of momentum behind him still.

the ceiling wasn't enough to absorb his impact, which he also fell through. The bones he'd previously broken shifted from their place at the second impact and stabbed through his skin, tearing through his flesh and protruding from his body most sickeningly. He landed in the dining room of a family of three, crushing them immediately under the collapsing ceiling and his own weight, they were dead instantly. He landed atop the Rupturer, crushing him between his enormous, broken body, a load of rubble and a dead family.

Fridgar stirred to consciousness in Unbelievable agony, it hurt even more than becoming had, everything hurt. Worse yet, he couldn't breath. His ribs must have shattered and torn up his lungs, and heart. As he started to fade into a deep sleep, his totem called out to him. With the last of his quickly fading strength, he reached up slowly and put his paw to his grizzly totem and used Chrysalis by refreshing his bear form. Horrible agony shot through him as the bones re-aligned and repaired, muscle repaired, organs too. He stood up from the bodies beneath him and looked up through the hole with a roar as if to say 'I'm okay'.

He soon realised that was a lie as he examined himself. Something was different, but he couldn't put his claw on what. What the hell was even going on? How long had he been able to heal himself through becoming? Did he wait for Sintih and Rey or turn into an eagle and fly away? For now, he'd wait.

Loose Ends Part 1: Reunion

Image
Rey frowned when she heard that none of them were alive. It made sense, but she wished they had survived - then she could find out more. She worked as an assassin, and these two weren't that - but she'd also been a mercenary before. It would make sense that these two were mercenaries, they were doing that kind of work. It was rough, sloppy, and brutal. Someone, however, had hired them - such was the way with mercs. Her group followed a strict code - if you're good at something, don't do it for free. All of them happened to be good at killing.
As if in a flash, there was a chase. Sintih was gone and Fridgar was about to transform. Rey didn't have time to answer before seeing Frid start shapeshifting. She waited patiently, though she waited a lot less time than she was anticipating having to - was he getting better at this? Whatever it was that caused this increase in speed, it must have been useful. What surprised her more than the speed, however, was what he turned in to.
Rey had seen Fridgar turn in to big beasts, wolves and bears. But she hadn't expected this. A bird. She tried not to show it, but her face showed the underwhelming confusion she felt. It didn't last, however, as he took off and flew after their target.

Rey's eyes looked in both directions. One way was the job, the one she was paid to do, and the other way was a new target of hers. She should go after the job - she was only here for the money. But not this time. Fridgar meant more to her than the money, as did Sintih. Sintih was a different issue altogether, however, as her opinion of him had changed constantly. They'd been friends, but he'd sided with that guard over her. Yet here she was, trying to save him.
After a few trills, she ran in the direction she saw Fridgar and Sintih go. She didn't know how she would catch up with them, or if she would even be able to, but it didn't matter. The two might need her, at one point or another, and this was her chance to help. Running through the snow, however, was proving difficult. Sintih could teleport, and Fridgar could fly - but neither of them were wearing heels. They'd have a damn harder job getting through this weather if they had her attire on. Then again, she found herself somewhat relieved that neither were wearing the same dress and heels she had on.

Eventually, she arrived at what appeared to be a ruined building. She tried her hardest to ignore her exhaustion, but it wasn't easy. Inside the place, he heard roaring. Immediately, Rey tried the door, barging in to it when it wouldn't budge. After a few more tries, she found it open slightly, enough for her to call in to Fridgar.
"Fridgar, the door is here, come this way. Are you ok?"

Loose Ends Part 1: Reunion

t was only for a trill that Sin thought the man was getting away when suddenly the air next to him was pushed apart by another form. He ducked aside, more falling to his knee than kneeling as the overstepping messed with his balance. His focus shifted from the running assassin to the figure that screeched in his ear. His understanding was only a trill behind his surprise as the screeching bird turned into the massive form of a grizzly bear in mid air. Sin knew of only one person who could do something like that and was stupid enough to launch himself in mid air as a grizzly sized projectile. Fridgar.

The resulting chaos and destruction lived up to Fridgar's personality as he crashed into the assassin, crushed him under his weight, broke the roof, ruined the house, crashed into the floor below and probably killed anyone who was underneath them in that moment. He doubted that the assassin would be doing much talking after all that. Why had he expected anything different from a jackhammer like Fridgar when the objective required the precision of a dagger? Despite the situation and the chase, Sin still had the time for his illusion to sigh at Fridgar's approach to the situation. Looking over the chaos, Sin could see nothing inside the building only the large hole in the roof a bear had caused. Like anyone would ever believe such a tale.

Sin pulled himself forward on his knees to the edge of his roof and looked over the side. He didn't dare try to stand to do so as he didn't want to fall over the edge. The roof was quite high, not something he could get down from on his own strength. Sin shook his head strongly, trying to push back the dizzyness so he could focus properly. Fridgar was somewhere in that building and he most likely needed help after his crash. Gripping his fingers onto the edge of the roof, Sin focused on the house ahead of him and tethered himself somewhere inside it. From where he stood he could just see the inside wall of the building, thanks to the giant hole Fridgar had made. The next moment he was inside the house or inside the carnage that used to be a house.

Just as he appeared, Fridgar-bear roared right next to him and Sin stumbled back, tripping over some rubble and falling against the wall behind him. "Syroa's bloody fury! Keep it down, will you. Did you get him?" Sin quickly spotted the crushed body of the rupturer and he was about to curse when the man stirred, coughing up blood in horrible agony. Served him right. Wobbling on his feet, Sin kept one hand to the wall as he approached the man, kneeling next to him on the rubble. "Who sent you? Hey, focus." Sin patted the man in his face to try and gain his attention. "I can help ease the pain if you answer my questions."

Despite the pain he was in, the rupturer decided that loyalty was something he could die for. Instead of answering Sin's question, he managed to weakly spit some blood in the Yludih's direction. As the blood landed on his knee, Sin shook his head, more to get rid of the rush of dizziness than as a response to the man's actions. "Have it your way." Sin pushed himself up, standing on both feet, one hand against the wall to help him stay grounded and have some idea of which way was up. As he stepped away from the man and past Fridgar, Sin looked the bear over. He seemed to be perfectly fine despite having just launched himself through a building. "He's useless. Get rid of him." After all the encounters he'd had with Fridgar so far, Sin didn't even think the man would hesitate. Even in the previous fight he seemed quite eager to end his opponent as quickly as possible.

A dead end, then? Sin grit his teeth in anger. Who would want to assassinate him? He had no answers now. Except, hadn't that guy in the beginning seemed sort of like Sin knew him from somewhere? He'd have to go back and check on him to be sure. Rey's voice suddenly called out to Fridgar, guiding him and checking on him. I'm fine too, thanks for asking. The thought flashed through his mind as Sin stepped over the crushed body of a child and headed towards the door Rey's voice was coming from. "We're fine in here, just finishing up." The door wasn't open enough for him to slip through, even with his thin build so Sin made sure to move aside as best he could so Fridgar could do something about it instead. "Don't stand in front of the door." He called out, just in case.

Another unfinished thread with Fridgar :(.
