27th of Vhalar 719

Stronghold of education and learning, this fortress is in one of the coldest areas of Idalos and home to many knowledge seekers in a variety of disciplines. However, unknown to most, below the city are those who suffer for the sake of science. While all are welcome, not everyone will be treated as they expect.

(Merk Pass) Feed to the Panthers

27th of Vhalar 719

It has been trials upon trials inside this cell, but now he was not alone. Wald had a companion that did not seem to leave him. He would wake up and see the emerald eyes in the corner. The boy always seemed to be awake when Wald was. It was strange but it could be understandable, Wald might shake the chains when he awakens. That would make since in his mind at least. Tilting his head towards the child, he spoke with his normal softness. "Are you do... Are you do... Are you doing alright Rasul?" Voice was stammered due to his mental degradation. Though it did not bother the child any.

The slow shake of Rasul's head as he got up from the corner. "Yes I fine no worry." The boy spoke as he walked around the cell, seemingly more carefree then he was when they first meet. Something about Wald protecting him made him feel safer. It made Wald happy to see that.

Wald's eyes closed for a moment, as he tried to smile. The muscles on his face sore. "Did... Did you sleep al... Alright?"

When Wald opened his eyes again, Rasul was sitting back in his corner. "I sleep good." He began to walk across the room again, counting the stones on the walls. As he passed the dripping pool of water, no reflection could be seen. Though it was likely due to the dark of the room.

Wald slowly tried to get up to join the child, but the chains kept him down. A slow gaze was given to them, as he blinked slowly. He nearly forgot about the binds for a moment. It was easy for things to slip his mind now. A slow shake of the head to clear his head, as he looked back up Rasul back in his corner. "Do you... you know what today is?" Wald asked the child as he sat.

Rasul shook his head, this time staying where he was. "No know. Men come soon." Rasul said pointing to the iron gate that separated the room from the hall. As the gate slowly opened with a creak.

Re: (Merk Pass) Feed to the Panthers

A large man entered into Wald's cage, as the wolfish eyes slowly slid to the man. There seemed to be a glaze over his vision, his movements had slowed. Time seemed to move faster then it used to around him. The man was holding a bowl of some kind, pushing it to the hunter's mouth. Forcing his head up, making the man swallow the contents. The cold sludge was the only thing he had eaten in trials, it was beginning to take a toll on the hunter.

The man knelt down, looking over Wald's face. Grabbing hold of it, moving from side to side. Before he walked off and left Wald in the cell again. It was not uncommon now for the person bringing his meal, to appraise him now. It seemed to be getting more common, he was set as a simple item to be sold now. His mind wondered for a moment, as his gaze went to the boy in the corner. The child sat there staring back at Wald, not moving this time. Slow blinks moved between the two, what could be done now?

Time moved forward in the cell, as the door creaked once again. This time the men had a key, and it was Wald's turn in the arena once again. One of the men spoke up this time though, and it confused Wald slightly. "Ya got a buyer, though she wants one last good show." Wald's eyes blinked slowly as he thought about it.

His voice came out slowly. "And... the boy?"

The two guards looked at each other and laughed. "Sure, wh'ever he can come too." The way they spoke confused Wald, but at least they said that Rasul could come along with him. The two would be a package deal then? That made since one to keep the other under control. Like buying a leash for a dog, or reins for a horse.

Re: (Merk Pass) Feed to the Panthers

He was soon in the rising cage, Wald thought over what the man said. Wald had a buyer? Who wanted one good show. It was a woman as well. His mind was processing what all of it meant. His body and mind were beginning to fail him, so he needed to take time before it could sink in. Soon his breath rose and fell, a bellow of mist exiting his body. His mind began to blank, what ever was awaiting him, it was prey. He needed his instincts not his mind now.

The floor would rise slowly to the top, as the light began to pour into Wald's eyes. The harsh dilatation of his eyes hurt him for a few moments. Though he soon adjusted to the light of the surface. He looked around the arena had several people, none of which looked out of place. There would be no way to know who the buyer was. The only thing he could do was try and focus on the opponent at the other side. His eyes lingered and squinted to try and see. The figure was there, he could even see a tail wiggling around. Another Ithecal? No this was an animal, it had to be as they were low to the ground. The figure was covered in a shadow, so it was hard to make out details.

Soon the booming voice came over the arena once again. "Ladies and gentlemen, we have quite the showing for you today. We have a special request for this matching, as Wald will have to take on one dangerous animal. Known through the mountains, this creature is as rare as it is dangerous. A Lietajuci!" Wald's mind paused for a moment when the name of the animal came out. he knew it all to well, as the animal was released before he was. The white fur walked out, and where there should of been two wings, there were small red stumps. They mutilated the animal before bringing it here to die for their entertainment. The creature looked half starved as well, likely to make sure it was in a killing mood. The poor animal was suffering.

The gate in front of Wald began to slowly lower. Though, as he looked at the large cat, his eyes flashed images or a young cub. A small cat that grew in front of Wald. He thought of Ari, it was all he could think of now. As the poor creature moved around the arena. When the gate was fully down, Wald stepped out with his hand outstretched. A soft calming whistle left his lips, as he walked slowly forward. The animal looked over Wald, he was a shell of a man he once was. Walking over to him, the outstretched hand.

The cat began to growl at Wald, as he took a hold of the cat into a hug. The cat began to thrash around, as Wald held on tight. "You are in pain..." The hunter spoke softly, as claws began to sink into his back. The large teeth of the animal began to try and snap at Wald. Though the way he held the creature made it unable to grab hold. "Shhhh..." Wald held the creature tight, as his teeth went into their neck. The large cat thrashed around for a few moments, before they fell over.

Wald sat down next to the creature, and softly stroked their fur. The life was gone, along with it was the pain of what the people had done to it. It was his job to end the suffering of the creature, not prolong it. Hopefully it was enough for the buyer, though it would be unknown if that was a proper enough job for her.

Re: (Merk Pass) Feed to the Panthers

Wald sat there for a moment, before he got up, as the guards were getting ready to drag him back. He simply walked back into the caged room, waiting to be pulled back into his cell. Hoping that it was enough for the woman to finalize the purchase. Escaping one person would be easier then escaping this place. It was unlikely there would be so many guards, nor would he be locked up this tightly. It was the best he could do to get out now, was to get sold off. Possibly going to who knows where.

Going back to his cell, the young boy was sitting in the corner. Waiting for him to return from above, as Wald got locked back into his place. The guards leaving him alone once again in the dark, only the child to keep him company. "You good?" The child spoke to Wald in their broken common.

Wald looked back to the child, his eyes looking into theirs. A slow nodding of the head was given. "Yes, I am fine... We may be sold." He told the child in a soft voice, trying to force a smile for the boy. Though his face did not want to try for any realism in it.

The boy gave a slow nod as he got up. "Yes, we go away."

Wald slowly agreed. "Yes, I need some rest now though." Wald closed his eyes, and the world grew completely silent. No footsteps and only the dripping of the water from the ceiling. It gave a steady rhythm helping the man relax, slowly drifting into sleep.

Re: (Merk Pass) Feed to the Panthers

The broken grammar isn't fully something I can complain about, as it's an in character inflection you put on someone. Nice work with that.

Can't say I've read someone cuddle a large cat to death though. Highlights Wald's slipping mental state and his connection to nature. There's nothing overtly wrong that I can see with this thread.

Enjoy your rewards.
