• Memory • A trail run cold [Syb]

Stronghold of education and learning, this fortress is in one of the coldest areas of Idalos and home to many knowledge seekers in a variety of disciplines. However, unknown to most, below the city are those who suffer for the sake of science. While all are welcome, not everyone will be treated as they expect.

Muscles moved and pressed against. The soreness drifting from his body in what seemed like a wave of release. Groans escaping from his lips as Sybil pressed on various parts of his pecs. A smile of pleasure across his face, the fang like canine teeth showing clearly for Sybil to see. His eyes closed as he pushed into Sybil's hands.

"I've... Heard of them, yes. But they're so rare here that... I didn't fully... Know."

"Rare. I see, do the men here not have anything to celebrate? To remember?" He rolled his chest up as spoke. Urging Sybil's hands to explore lower. Working down to his abs and hips. "My Brother and I, we often ran into beasts. Training against one another is a good way to develop skill. But nothing compares to fighting against the real thing. We walked the wall often and even ventured out into the fields." he said, beginning on a story that Sybil didn't even need to ask for. Pausing for a brief moment to take in another view of Sybil. Eyes scanning down their body, hooked on their hips any time they leaned across his chest or shifted.

"The grass would swallow you. Being so short, you would be lost within an instant." he teased, relaxing again. He groaned against their hands. Enjoying the primal urge that was over coming him with every movement that they made. "My brother and I would hunt often. We went into the fields. He lead, the stealthier of the two of us and the quicker.. And we searched, moving slowly. Waiting for a creature worth carrying back to the city. We found one or I should say one found us."

Attention, pushed to the center of the circle. Eyes on him in this moment as he told his stories. Remembering the fights and hunts of his past. The joys of his childhood, unknown to the rest of the world. The danger that he lived in, the chance of death around every tree trunk. His life was different from the students and he was more than happy to share it.

"It was a cat like beast. A maw of sharp teeth ready to rip off our flesh with easy. A tail, bladed, filled with venom and anger. Claws as sharp as blades." he went on describing the cat like creature. It's rapid movement and the striking of it's tail. "My brother was struck by the tail, he went down. He fired his arrows into the beast. While I charged at it head long, shield in one hand ax in the other. I fought the beast as it clawed and struck at me." he said using a hand to gently grasp Sybil's and lead them to the larger scars on his chest.

He continued to spin the tale of their battle. Man verses beast. "I split it's skull open, unfortunately. Because of our injuries, we had to leave the prize behind. But a victory is a victory." he said. The man would go quiet again as Sybil worked. Enjoying the prize that he was given.

"Er... I might have to leave. Or sleep on your floor."

His indigo eyes opening with a flutter. Rising from his resting position, he sat up. Now looking down at Sybil, he shook his head. "Stay. It is not safe for you to travel alone. Share my bed, you will be safe and can leave in the morning." he said before pausing to look over the student. If one had limited space, there weren't very many options. "If you are not comfortable with sharing a bed, than I shall sleep on the floor. You need the rest." he said, his tone firm. He would rise from the bed and retrieve his cloak from the dresser. Tossing it on the floor to make a makeshift bed for himself.

Slowly, Sybil glances from side to side, as Korik starts to shift around. A flurry of thoughts course throughout Sybil's mind. Sleeping in the same bed wasn't all too bad. But was something expected out of it? Why was he so quick in making himself the one that was to lay on the floor? Glancing over to Korik, Sybil's guard slowly rose. Eyes making a quick scan of him, the student seems to just pause for a moment. But behind those eyes, an assessment is being made. The man's tone, and his action line up with something that could be taken as someone just being kind. But there wasn't any reason for him to do so. Sybil had grown in Viden, where academics behave in such a cut throat, utilitarian way, that there simply isn't room for the likes of compassion without reason. Parents do it to their young, to instill a distinct sense of cultural normalcy. People do it to people when they want something in particular. Sybil had experiences like that. And allowed such a lie to progress to its conclusion, before admitting that all along, the student knew the other party was being truthful. It brought Sybil an understanding of the world in which the student lived in to a degree that wouldn't have been gotten, if Sybil had just went with instinct, or evidence. Sometimes, progress can just be made by observing failures, and contributing factors; to make it never happen again. But Korik, in this instance... There wasn't anything outward about his actions. It was almost shocking, how surface level his intentions were.

Had had risen, and already had made himself a makeshift bed. He was fully intent on sleeping on it. There wasn't any malicious cravings in his eyes. There was a craving, Sybil could tell, but it wasn't something that would progress violently. He was resisting whatever he was wanting to do, and was behaving genuinely. It was something that confused Sybil. Usually there were layers upon layers of reasons why a person would do something. They behave in a way that was utterly in their best interests, one way or another. But here, he was just proving to be a genuinely good person. A notion that didn't sit well with Sybil. Something that almost didn't make any sense. It was possible that he was a far greater liar, than Sybil was an observer, but there were no tells. There were no cues to go off of, as he spoke. In this moment, Sybil had to pause, for quite a while. A stalling of the brain was what enveloped the student's mind. It was alien, to understand such a thing. And Sybil couldn't understand if it was a good thing, that the student's expectations were being subverted, or if it was a bad thing, that Viden had made Sybil so paranoid over the intentions of others. Wasn't that the reason why the city was formed in the first place? Eyes settled on Korik's eyes, finally. A brief remembrance crossed the mind. He told a falsehood when telling about the nature of eyes and Lotharren culture. A joke, all the same, but it came with it, a bit of insight. His tone raised.

Sybil began to relax, letting out a soft breath. It was comforting, knowing that he was, at the very least, just as upfront as he said he was. It was easier for Sybil to be able to allow these invasive thoughts to just bleed into the back of the student's skull, to be unfounded suspicions, and simply allow the mind to trust who it may. Sybil's eyes simply close, as the student takes a more comfortable position, on the bed, "... You can join me, if you want. You're an honorable man. You wouldn't do anything to drag that down." Sybil was calm.

The two would sleep together, without any problems, that night. No boundaries crossed. Leaving Sybil with a renewed faith in the humanoids that walked Idalos. Perhaps there were people worth cherishing out there. The bed was warm, as though the Lotharro was a raging furnace. He was allowed to cuddle, without incident.

Wow, a meet-and-greet memory that became something much more than a simple fireside chat in a tavern. Interesting way to split the paths, Sybil, through technical use of font color. Also, ew, that Maggot Connoisseur... Korik proved himself honorable, brave, and protective through-out the entire thread. It was heart-warming in context that Korik just dealt with the loss of his companions and brother to the Lurker, that he is able to protect Sybil through danger. And Sybil acted so polite and shy in turn.

The tension when Korik warms Sybil up with hand-holding and then that massage... palpable. The conversation during the massage was also very bonding between the two of them.

Great job the both of you and enjoy your rewards!
