There was a flash of anger in the gaze of the half-breed as the captain explained to her exactly what had been happening. It was despicable to think about. The thought that made her talons curl inward and her teeth clench were the thoughts about all the hungry orphans that she could have easily helped taken care of. All the beggars she could have clothed and taught to get proper jobs. All the students who were struggling to afford higher education or didn't even have access to an institution because it wasn't built. That was the wrath that boiled under her skin and made her feathers prickle. Those were the thoughts that kept her up for hours on end at midnight. How was she going to fix this problem or that problem? And here the answer was, staring her dead in the face. The woman had been getting conned the entire time. And that was truly what set her into a silent rage. Who could you punish in a situation like this? How could you prove the situation was wrong. Her resources were limited at best and her understanding of politics or law was even less extensive. The woman knew the difference between right and wrong. Acutely. But how could that be used to fix this? And just like that, the anger seemed to fizzle into a somber mourning. How many lives would have been saved if she could feed them? Clothe them? Nurture them into something other than back alley escorts, dealers, and killers? That was two full arcs of wealth that were robbed not from her, but from those in Etzos who she so desperately wanted to help.
When he spoke once more curiosity claimed her. And then something else. A bright and strong sense of hope. "That would be wonderful! Absolutely wonderful!" She said in a bright tone of joy, her eyes seeming to glint for a moment. That was perfect! Exactly what she needed, what she was looking for, what she was hoping for. A massive grin started to spread across her features. Yes, this would work! This would work wonderfully. "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you! I have no words to express my gratitude," she cooed in a voice that practically danced. "What to do first though? The underground still seems like it could use some extra modifications before we have a repeat of the last mess, especially if there ends up being another underground race. But there should really be more schools in the outer areas... of course, schools require buildings and materials and teachers... That seems better fitted to a long-term project. I'll definitely have to make sure I save some up closer to Cylus since there was a higher number of homeless deaths than the last couple arcs, definitely because of freezing temperatures," her thoughts and words mostly devolved into muttered plans as all the ways she noticed she could have helped started to slip from her lips. Better spoken than forgotten one might assume.
"Ah!" She quickly turned her attention back to the Captain, seemingly having forgotten where she was the moment all her thoughts and planning seemed to rush her. "I'm a little easily distracted lately. There've been more jobs that usually and I really haven't been getting enough sleep, pardon me if I seemed a little rude or scattered for a moment. I don't believe I have anything else to mention or speak about as all else seems to be well. If there's nothing you'd like to speak with me about, then I'll take my leave and let you get back to what I assume must be mountains of paperwork," she flinched slightly, comment genuine. She could only imagine the number of complaints and reports he had to go through on a single given trial. "There are a few things I simply must write down..."
