The Stekir didn't respond to anything he said, seemingly only interested in mewling about steaks as he quietly - and quite cutely - laid in the arms of the human. Even in his weakness however, he demanded, whispering assertive words through his sharp-toothed lips. Bring me your alpha steak, human, the creature commanded, throwing a thought into the mage's mind. Steak. Steak-ir. Maybe the Stekir was named after steaks? Alistair decided on something right then - this was a riddle. Bring me your alpha steak, he said. His alpha steak-ir was right there, a term appropriate for an animal, not a meat.
As the Stekir came down, the mage pointed at the beast right then and there. When Fridkir looked into the mirror, the mage triumphantly declared, "I've brought you the Alpha Steak-ir," with a silly smile covering his lips, before a sillier laugh proceeded to exit with a breath. He knew the logic was incredibly faulty, but so was this entire trial.
As for the axe, well...
"Maybe I was hoping stekir were dog-like and that you'd start chewing on it instead of random men," he shrugged. Then, looking to the fishcat who had determined he would retain this form, the mage beat his chest once and grinned. "Nah, but not really - it's actually a Lurker Totem. I figured I can't just let you have such an awesome present without an equally stellar prank... so that's how it goes. I made you a totem that is also a weapon, made by a master smith. But you also had to spend an entire trial just to become a screeching cat-thing. Fair?" he questioned his lover, before opening a small portal and suctioning the axe out from it, his fingers nimbly grasping for its handle as it escaped the rift.
"Now go back to Frid-gar form and we'll have good steak - and you can try out this sweet axe. Also, we can do the first transformation away from Aedirn, considering you'll probably incite a much larger and much more violent crowd if you become that beast in a civilized area," he spoke, as logically as he could.
