Appearance

Scaripteil look to be forged from crimson and white steel plates, with a golden glow shining from in between the plates. Their eyes share the same golden glow as well. Their wings lack webbing or feathers, making them seem flightless, but when the Scaripteil wants to fly, a stream of golden flame jets out from the vents in their wings. Their tails have a similar effect, with jets from flame coming from the vents in the end of their tail at will. There are similar vents in their horns, but they do not expel flame and instead vent a cool air to keep their rider from overheating.

Lifespan and Development

Scaripteil's can live for a very long time, up to five hundred years. They hatch from eggs that look like, and have a consistency of, molten lava rocks. These eggs need to be kept heated during the incubation processs and, once hatched, the Scaripteil will grow to maturity in only two years. During the last fifty years of their life, they will have trouble igniting their flame wings and flame tail, and will develop an ash producing cough as their internal fire starts to go out. In the last year of their life, they will have a lot of trouble keeping warm and may require assistance in doing so, unless they live in an incredibly hot area.

Abilities

Scaripteil are normally quite slow, with a body that's basically hulking metal. Their wings, when active, give them a flight speed that compares with most flying mounts, but it doesn't do much for their ground speed. They make up for their lack of speed with sheer durability and strength. Their hides are immune to any kind of mundane weapon, and their can crush steel with their jaws and shred it with their claws. They also have a great deal of stamina and go up to three days without sleep at need. They are, however, not all that bright, and tend to resort to just trying to brute force their way through an opponent or problem, using their absurd durability to power through enemy attacks. They also have a powerful white fire breath than can melt through steel in a matter of seconds, though they can also only maintain it for a few seconds. The heat from their wings can also cause third degree burns with a touch, though the Scaripteil rarely make use of this. Their tail, while lacking any overt natural weaponry, do emit the same jets of flame as the wings and the Scaripteil swings their tail, these jets of flame form a psuedo club that can burn through most creatures.

Temperament

Scaripteil are generally fairly happy creatures, though fortunately not too excitable. They're a bit dim, and can cause some problems if their rider doesn't keep their bulk in mind, as the Scaripteil are not likely to realize that they're either too big for or too heavy for something. However, they are very gentle with non-hostile living creatures, and they tend to enjoy the company of children. Despite their lack of intelligence, they are very obedient to their riders.
