History

"There is beauty in all things, and it deserves to be preserved."

Drathaidir's soul, the last of the four draconic souls Ethelynda cared for, wandered the surface of Idalos and found wonder and beauty in all aspects of nature. In time, the soul also passed through cities and found beauty both in the architecture but also in the inhabitants. It was in the great vaults which mortals used to hoard treasures that the soul of Drathaidir found it's home and these - along with a true passion for all the beautiful things it had seen - shaped the dragon it became.

Eventually, the time came for the soul to put down roots and began to take physical form. It settled in a ruined vault outside of Uthaldria for this purpose, and Drathaidir began to grow. However, owing to its power over communication, Drathaidir wasn't as inert as other Dragons were in this state, and its mind reached out and found the lost treasures of Idalos and pushed at the underbellies of society, manipulating events so that those treasures found their way to Drathaidir's vault.

As Drathaidir's presence began to grow, animals found their way to the vault as well, and the Dragon took them in, recruiting their aid in maintaining its growing museum in return for sustenance and safety from the outside world. Eventually, however, Kata's manipulations led to the Drathaidir's awakening. While the Dragon did not eject any of its helpers, for it never would, it did seek to more actively expand its museum as well as encourage visitation to it, for what good is it to hoard treasure that none can see.

The Joyful Treasure is awake, and it deems that the wonder and beauty of the world shall be preserved.

Personality

Drathaidir is a cheerful creature, who's general attitude is festive and energetic. She is not, by nature, a serious individual, though she can be so if the situation absolutely demands it. She has a fondness for adopting weaker creatures, taking them under her wings and letting them live with her in her museum, though she insists they help maintain it if they're going to live with her.

Drathaidir is a great lover of beauty, and directly seeks out the lost treasures of Idalos, things of beauty that were stolen or otherwise lost to time, and brings them to her museum so that they can appreciated once more. She does not, however, understand the desire to hide something away from the world and keep it for yourself, and actually rather dislikes that kind of selfishness. She considers everything to have its own form of beauty, and is not above trying to add living things to her museum, though she treats any she adds in this capacity amazingly well and will let them leave if they truly desire it.

For all of this, though, Drathaidir wants no part of the various wars of Idalos. She considers herself neutral, a preserver of the legacy and history of Idalos for all to witness. She will not court attempts to draw her into conflicts, unless someone attacks her or her museum directly. She prefers a relationship with her Bearers, often considering them her closest assistants, but she respects them enough to let them make their own choices in the matter.

Appearance

Drathaidir is a dragon that is considered beautiful by many, owing to her polished golden scales and the webbing of her wings and down her back, which looks as if were golden sheets. Her claws and teeth have a silvery sheen and her eyes glow a soft gold color. Owing to her being a Dragon, she has a naturally fierce expression that runs rather counter to her cheerful personality.

Drathaidir is small for a Dragon, being only about 15 feet tall at the shoulder and 20 feet from nose to tail, with a 25 foot wingspan. She is quadrepedal and actually has rather blocky claws that aren't well suited to handling fragile objects, much to her annoyance. However, her small size and more agile body lets her operate indoors with much greater ease than many of her kin.

Drathaidir is one of the Dragons most likely to visit a populated area, and may do so on a whim or because she is looking to add to her museum, or even because she is actively looking for someone to make a Bearer.
