Four in Hand

'Don't let me down, boy. Anida is a good friend, even if she's gone sour to me now.' Grant Lowen had told Genuvah, when he requested the young man to visit the Four in Hand in Scalvoristown. 'She needs help with these card cheats and lucky bastards, ringing what wealth is left in her businesss. One important note, don't ever talk down to her, or insult Anida. Always flatter the woman. I'm sure a red-blooded young man like you will find plenty to like about her, focus on that. One hint that you're being insincere or insulting, and she'll have you out. This is important to me boy, Anida is...'

Genuvah had understood the rest, though he was still young to this wider world. Scalvoris Island was a breath of fresh air, compared to Rharne. No needing to lay low, or pretend to be someone else. Always worrying that he'd run afoul of the law in that land or some vindictive lawman or else a rogue would find out more than they ought to about the Yludih Enclave he'd lived in. He could even shout from the rooftops that he was Yludih or Emperor of the sky, answered only by shrugs and raised eyebrows. Only the Immortals would find it in them to give a damn about such lunatic ramblings.

Nevertheless, he was more prudent than his own musings, and kept a low profile in spite of the welcoming nature of the Island. Not to say it was without it's dangers. He'd just undergone a mission with some couriers, watching over them as they carried their parcel from Egilrun to Scalvoristown. Genuvah had his own reasons for being there. He was on his to meet someone in Almund in several trials. But for now, this favor for Grant, which may as well have been called an assignment.

He arrived at the Four in Hand, greeted by a rush or warm air in the cold of Cylus as he entered through the front door. There were an odd assortment of people around the tavern, having drinks, eating food, chatting, and enjoying some games for fun and house money. He spotted Anida right away, a blue-skinned mature adult woman. Grant hadn't exagerrated about her. She was certainly attractive.

Genuvah was told he'd have to approach her to be convincing, so he did. "Greetings, Miss. Are you the proprietor of this establishment?"

She was already being beset by attention from a number of men, who were lavishing her with praises and sweet nothings. Anida merely smiled and nodded toward Genuvah, "I'm Cowle. Um..." He feigned nervousness, illusioning a furrowing his brow, and downcurving his mouth as he regarded the rest of the men, "I just wanted to say hello!"
