Hello Rharne!

This is a tracker style event, to see if the Pigasuses, the flying pigs from the calendar, will either return to Rharne on a permanent basis, or be hunted once more to extinction.

Obviously there are only a few pcs to accomplish either the salvation or death of all Pigasuses. So I'm using your kill and salvation counts as an extrapolation of what is going on in Rharne at large.

You're representing a microcosm of Rharne's reaction to the flying pigs.

As such, when you are either hunting or helping the pigs (keeping/capturing them in safe pens and breeding them totally counts as saving), I'll have a count kept track of here. Please submit only threads that have been submittted for review, and I will take a tally before the end of the season, and lock the thread on the 1st of August. Any threads that have not been submitted for review at that point won't be eligible for counting or wells.

Quick Facts about Pigasuses:

They started appearing on the 27th of Ymiden 724.

They fly quite fast, and have a lot of endurance on the wing. It's almost as if they're buoyed by some internal force, rather than their wings. Like hot balloons.

They can generate a quick burst of speed every other break, by projectile defecating in the air. This tends to be also a defensive measure against predators and hunters. Very effective.

Their flesh tastes very very good.

THe wings aren't what's keeping them afloat. They are covered in white-gray feathers, and the wing limb itself is very meaty and tender. The wings are used more for directional steering, not flying.

Anyone who gets projectile pooped on, should (after their thread is submitted and subsequently graded) put in for a psf ticket, a single mutation related to wind. This can be beneficial but not overpowered to the point of being favored levels of power. Just a harmless little thing they can do with wind. Like drying off a little quicker, or self-cleaning with wind.

You can find no more than 1 windstar on any of them, usually attached to their stomach. No more than one windstar in each thread. Not all Pigasuses have windstars inside of them.

That's all there is to it. Please fill out the proforma below, and let's see if these Pigasuses are here to stay:

Link to thread: [Glass Quarter] If pigs can do it!
Names of PCs Involved: Winston
Number of pigs killed: 1 (dead pig purchased)
Number of pigs saved: 0
Summary of what happened in thread and confirmation that it's submitted for approval: Winston flew to find the pigs.

Found hunters slaughtering them and made an arrangement for him to 'solve the problem' so they could stop just killing them indiscriminately.

He saw the pigs flying, saw lots of dead ones and got his hand on one of the carcases.

Questions I have for this thread:
  • Does he learn anything interesting from simply seeing how they fly (he has detection Expert, Flying Competent, if either of these are relevant)
  • I'm going to dissect/butcher the dead pig I got. What might he find out in that thread for me to write up. (he has Cooking GM for butchering skills, Detection Expert, Alchemy GM, Encorcellign Master, he has also disected creatures with Sizewells inside them in the past, if any of the helps)

Winston is able to tell that they are not using their wings to fly, but appear buoyed by some internal force. If he has any science/engineering skill at competent+, he may be able to postulate that they have lift from buoyancy. In other words, the air in some internal organ is lighter than the air around it, making them float.

Also about the butchery, when you find the Windstar, you discover that it's causing them some internal upset, like well poisoning, but this is causing the explosive projectile defecation.

Saving roll for agility or Winston will get covered in poo :P

Also, the wing limb flesh is most delectable, like a pork loin on the limb with a good soup bones. The 'feathering' of the wing is actual flesh, that is like an intoxicatingly delicious bacon.

Number of pigs killed: 0
Number of pigs saved: 3
Summary of what happened in thread and confirmation that it's submitted for approval: Save three pigs by 'shooing' them out of the sight of the Glass Quarter Hunters.

Butchered a pigasus to find out what it likes to eat (Slimes as per DM) and that it taste amazeballs (also as DM'ed).

Please let me know if he finds anything else during the investigation of the pig body during butchery (detection Expert, investigation Competent, Coomking GM, Hunting Expert).

Thnaks Pigs!

Re: Autopsy/butchery, the Pig's explosive defecation is prompted by the sudden loss of pressure in their stomach or bladder as it is cut into. It's obvious to an ensorceller like Winston that the Windstars in the pigs are causing some form of ether poisoning.

Link to thread: The Case of the Flying Pigs
Names of PCs Involved: Tristan
Number of pigs killed: 0
Number of pigs saved: 0
Summary of what happened in thread and confirmation that it's submitted for approval: I just posted a review request for this. Tristan sees a flying pig and tries to figure out where it's going. His friends want to kill Pigasi. He decides that he wants to start a Pigasus farm for the people of Westwind though. He hopes that will make them more inclined to accept his request to become their new leader. His grandmother Ebony (Expert Intelligence) tells him that the Pigasi went extinct fifty years ago. She heard a rumour.

I hope it's okay that I posted this thread here even though no pigs have been killed or saved yet.

I have two questions for this thread, if it's allowed to be here:

- Does Tristan learn where the Pigasus is going? (He has Master Detection.)
- Did Ebony learn anything else about the Pigasi with her Intelligence skill?
 ! Message from: Pig Boy
Tristan sees that the Pigs are going West from the city of Rharne. Occasionally blown off course by a strong wind, or else meandering, but generally toward the west and north.
Ebony learned from some of her older friends that they had friends in Westwind Town before it was ruined. That the fields east of Westwind Town had been lush farmland, with many pigasuses raised for meat, and domesticated by some method known only to the Westwind Town villagers. However they've not visited Westwind in decades since it was ruined, but heard that it had recently been reestablished in some form, albeit without a leader and the people there were strange, like they were locked in some time in the past before returning.

Link to thread: [Westwind] Happy as pigs in... well you know the rest
Names of PCs Involved: Winston
Number of pigs killed: 0
Number of pigs saved: 6
Summary of what happened in thread and confirmation that it's submitted for approval: Winston hepled a few pigs get out of Rharne and helped a chap with one pig.

Got covered in pigasus poop.

Followed them to the Westwind mud flats and studied their behaviour for a bit.

Agreed with
Alex
from Isonomia to try to begin to arrange to purchase as much of the flats as possible.

Headed off to find Tristan.

Questions I have for this thread:
  • Does he discover anything about the pig at the flats?
  • Nothing else specific, but happy for extra info if there is any.
 ! Message from: Pig Boy
He discovers, once the pigasuses return to the flats, that they are good diggers, using all four legs to scrape the earth and reveal rich soil beneath, with many fungi and truffles that can be easily harvested with the presence of the pigs.

He also learns that there are an abundance of slimes in the flats, and that these are apparently edible by the pigs. Also, he notices their health improving with every slime they eat. His keen eye and knowledge of ensorcelling may deduce that the well poisoning is improving in them, as they eat more slimes. As if the wells inside them might be getting reduced with every slime ingested.
Their poops are also much less buoyant on the air when they defecate. They tend to fall right down for the pigs feasting on slimes the longest and most prodigiously.

Link to thread: Garnet
Names of PCs Involved: Cassander
Number of pigs killed: 1
Number of pigs saved: 0
Summary of what happened in thread and confirmation that it's submitted for approval: Sage and Cassander have a nice chat about gemstones and such when there's an uproar all of a sudden. Pigasi are flying across Rharne. A dead pigasus is lying near the Domum Kassaili. It was probably wounded (shot?) before it fell from the sky and died. There's also poop on the street. Sage decides to shovel pigasus poop. Cassander is supposed to get rid of the dead pig. Nobody was pooped on - yet.

I have two questions:

- How hard is it to remove Pigasus poop from the street? Does it have any special (or negative) properties?
- How heavy is a dead Pigasus?
 ! Message from: Pig Boy
The poop is very sticky, and hard to get off not only the street, but the shovel. If they try things, fluids first, wine or water only make it worse. If they experiment with vinegar, they find that eliminates the stickiness, but makes it watery.
Dead pigasus is pretty light, but bulky. Has lots of meaty bits.

Names of PCs Involved: Cassander
Number of pigs killed: 0
Number of pigs saved: 0
Summary of what happened in thread and confirmation that it's submitted for approval: Sage Castemont tries to remove the Pigasus poop from the street with vinegar. In the meantime, Cassander heads to the Dizzy Wizard. He tells Graid Bockey that he has a dead winged pig and suggests it could be an alchemical ingredient, or at least be used for cooking. Mister Bockey tells Cassander it's a Pigasus. Pigasuses went extinct when he was a child. He needs a moment to think about whether he wants it.

My questions are:

- Will Mister Bockey take Cassander's dead Pigasus?
- Will he pick it up at the Domum Kassaili or make Cassander bring it?
- Can it be used for anything?
- Will Mister Bockey offer anything in return?
 ! Message from: Pig Boy
~ Oh yes he will
~ He'll send some couriers over to pick it up if they want.
~ It can be used to formulate some weightless potions and other sorts of items, is his initial idea. Anything further will need investigating.
~ He'll owe the Domum Kasaili a favor for the first pig, and offer Cassander a tip of 2 wp for any more pigs.

Names of PCs Involved: Illuvia, Goku
Number of pigs killed: 1
Number of pigs saved: 0
Summary of what happened in thread and confirmation that it's submitted for approval: They come across avriel hunters/bandits who are killing a pig but are suspiciously aggressive. Luvi & Goku follow them to their camp and eavesdrop to learn more about the pigs. They find out that the hunters are going after the pigs because they found a well inside one in the past. Luvi tries to sabotage them by breaking their weapons in secret… but gets caught and this leads into part 2. This has been submitted for approval.

Names of PCs Involved: Illuvia, Goku
Number of pigs killed: 0
Number of pigs saved: Hard to say – a group that was hunting them has been effectively neutralized
Summary of what happened in thread and confirmation that it's submitted for approval: Luvi & Goku get caught trying to sabotage the hunters. The situation is diffused on “agreeable” terms, but the avriel ambush them later at night. This turns into a bloodbath and ultimately 3/5 of the hunters/bandits end up dead. Luvi steals the windstar that they had gathered at the end. This has been submitted for approval.

Link to thread: [Westwind] Just the man I was looking for
Names of PCs Involved: Winston
Number of pigs killed: 0
Number of pigs saved: 0
Summary of what happened in thread and confirmation that it's submitted for approval: Winston and Tristan share knowledge of what they have found out about the pigs.

Tristan agrees to help Winston purchase the mud flats.

They agree to make the Council and Guild looks good by making out they are selling wasted land and dealing with a slime pest problem to boot, referencing the Sliming of Rharne event where a slime got out of hand.

They end up in the Library, researching the mud flats (with a couple of specific question, but also after anything they can find).

Questions I have for this thread:
  • Can they be assumed to have confirm the size of the mud flats (You had previously suggested they were 20 square miles) for the purpose of valuation?
  • Can they find out who previously owned the flats (historically or whatever)?
  • Cna they find anything else out about the Flats?
  • Cnn they find anything else out about the Pigasus?
 ! Message from: Pig Boy
  • Yes 20 square miles is okay.
  • Yes, but the records refer back to the archives of the Shrine of Time, to Ralaith in Westwind town itself. It's suggested in the records that the mud flats belonged to the Acothley Family of Westwind.
  • A lot of submerged houses that sank beneath the mud, perhaps. Might be worth investigating, or not.
  • the Pigasus seems to get healthier when it eats slimes, and those that have been found with slime in their stoor also experience less 'flatulence'.

Summary of what happened in thread and confirmation that it's submitted for approval: I only included this here because the pigs were in the thread. Luvi is basically just shooting at them and failing miserably. Submitted for review!
 ! Message from: Pig Boy
Illuvia has discovered, that in spite of their bulky bodies, the pigasus is quite nimble on the wing, even as just a floater and not a true flier.
