While the Prophets have laid out the foundation for Rharne, we would love for its continued development to be a collaborative effort! We encourage you to submit any and all development ideas specific to Rharne on this thread. We've provided a number of templates to get you started, but please don't feel limited to these suggestions. Any and all ideas can & should be submitted here!

The mods will regularly review and approve any pending submissions on this thread. If a suggestion has been accepted, we will update your post with an "Approved!" stamp and upload your submission to the lore.

[Rharne] Development Thread

Tylios' Thunder Forge

The building itself was built during arc 620, and since then, it has lived through a lot of changes. It's first owner's child was the one that turned his house into a forge once he was done with his apprenticeship to one of the local blacksmiths. He lived in the basement, while he used the ground floor of the house as the forge. Then, once he died and left it all to Tylios, the Qi'ora expanded the building by adding an another floor to it, and he moved the entire forge just outside, to the porch area. The old forge on the inside was either sold in pieces or turned into something useful, like the fireplace. Tylios is currently living on the first floor of the house, while using the ground floor as storage for everything he makes, and the basement as storage for all of the materials he might need.

The building is made out of wood and stone, in just the perfect combination of the two, considering Tylios spared no nels when expanding the establishment. It is the true home for the wealthy among the Earth Quarter, and even though most people that know him had told him at least once or twice that he should move his shop to the Glass Quarter, and move into a larger house (which he could most definitely afford), he refuses to, always saying things like "sentimental value" and "I'm giving the Earth Quarter residents a place to buy good things for affordable prices, I wouldn't be able to do that if I myself was in the Glass Quarter". On the outside of the shop, everything seems classy and in order, as everything Tylios uses has it's own place, and never leaves that place, but on the inside is a whole different story. The Qi'ora chucks his creations all around the house, and it isn't unknown to anyone that quite a few horseshoes had ended up in his bed. There is even a folk tale that the older Lightning Knights tell the younger ones while drinking. It says that a squire once walked in Tylios' house to pick up a blade he needed for his training, and after picking up one blade from the pile, a thousand other things, armor, weapons and every other thing imaginable fell straight onto him and buried him alive within the house. According to the story, Tylios never even noticed the thousand pieces of metal on the floor, and so the poor squire was left to rot on the inside of the Forge for the rest of eternity. But that is just a story, right?

Pricing

Consult the price list about weapon and armor pricing. Any custom made weapons' prices should be discussed with the city's prophets. Tylios is willing to work with any metal at his disposal, of course, the rarer the metal, the higher the price. If the metal is provided by the buyer, Tylios will charge the buyer with the standard iron price. Prices of metals should be discussed with the city's prophets.

Kar Tylios

Title: Master Blacksmith, Thundersmith, The Bender of Lightning.

Kar Tylios was born to be a blacsmith, and since his earliest days, he was learning how to do it from the best smiths available. He was once a smith in Yaralon but the amount of rough mercenaries drew him away. Tylios found himself in Rharne where he acted as an apprentice blacksmith to the man that owned a small forge in the Earth Quarter. After the old man died, Tylios spent all of his money to expand the shop, and find connections within the city. He renamed the shop into "Tylios' Forge", but after he established a connection with the Lightning Knights, many people put Thunder into the title of his establishment. He is renowned widely across the city, and anyone looking for an honest crafter is going to be happily accepted by Tylios. He can't stand violence, nor deceit, but he enjoys nice drinks and women. Being the only blacksmith in Rharne who could work with tougher and better metals, the Knights which often visited the man named him the Bender of Lightning and accepted him as one of their own. Anyone who messes with the nice old man would draw the wrath of most older Lightning Knights upon them, seeing how Tylios could not defend himself. He enjoyes telling stories about his past, especially to his apprentices, which seem to never be able to surpass their master. Tylios has slowly begun getting a reputation of the Thundersmith across the wider field of Idalos, making his shop a place of constant crowd, as many visitors from all over Idalos yearn to see the man's magic over the toughest metals available.

Kyar Sereey

Still new to the whole smithing business, Kyar is often acting too courtly when around his mentor and others, knowing how the Aukari aren't really accepted within the walls of Rharne. Still, he had proven himself to be an honest and fair worker, and he earned Tylios' trust, which means nobody would dare to touch him. Kyar is a very polite, and intelligent young man, mostly doing the maths behind every purchase in the shop. Tylios views the young half Aukari as a son, and is trying to teach him as much as possible about smithing, but he knows that Kyar's brain is far too advanced for such a physical job. Kyar is often the one that is tortured to go and pick up supplies, or carry the newly mined metal during standard day-to-day operations in the Forge.

Tio's Tea House

The the tea house is warm and inviting with clever lighting that helps set the mood well. Located within the Earth District, Tio's Tea House is surrounded by award winning gardens and manmade rock-pools that play host to a number of different, exotic fish from locations as far away as Desnind. Here it is difficult to feel anything but relaxed, as Tio prides himself on importing different teas and herbs from all over Idalos that promote healing and a feeling of euphoria.

Guests to the tea house can find a quiet spot in the garden or corner of the building to sit alone or with friends. There is also an option to sit in the main lounge where four small tables are framed by a line of couches and comfortable cushions to promote sharing and a real sense of community. Patrons who pay for the shared experience are presented with a selection of teas ranging in strengths and colours which serve up to four people for five gold.

The first drink is on us!
The Harlot ‘n’ Hound is located in the Earth Quarter, a lively and popular tavern with loud music, plenty of grog to go around, and some of the most scandalous dancers in Rharne. People are quite sure they had a good time, the only problem is, no one can ever remember. Whether it’s something in the water or a culture of overindulging, no one is quite sure why the morning after, everything that took place the night before is a blur.

With two bars in the main room, enough tables to seat fifty, and dim lighting, the layout is easy and too quickly familiar. There are two private rooms either end of the tavern where patrons can rent the venue for parties, shows, or just a spot of adult entertainment. The Harlot ‘n’ Hound caters to all tastes, and their sinful dancers and outgoing bartenders will see to it that one night here, is the best night of your life! It’s a well-known fact that the owner Rose Tanner runs a very lucrative and high profit escort business, and pays her staff well, but seldom hires new blood.

Upstairs are eight small rooms that can be rented for the night. Rose does not let travelers book in advance, with a first come, first served policy. Every room has a double bed, fireplace, en-suite with toilet and bath, and a lockable chest for the safe keeping of belongings.

Rose is the owner of the Harlot 'n' Hound. She has lived in Rharne for twelve years after escaping slavery in Nashaki. She inherited the tavern from her husband of two years who died under suspicious circumstances (believed to be poison). Rose can be a difficult woman to get along with and believes everyone has a price.

She prefers working as a barmaid to being a compaion, and has considered leaving the profession a few times, but Rose is a possessive woman who doesn't let her staff go until she is finished with them.

Raven (stage name), is the newest member of staff, and one of Rose's personal favourites. He is a hot-blooded firecracker, and doesn't let anyone get away with upsetting the dancers. He worked as a smuggler before taking up work at the Harlot 'n' Hound, and some believe he has been hired to do Rose's dirty work, but few have found any proof and lived to tell about it.

Wolf (stage name), has worked as a bartender and doorman (security) for the Harlot 'n' Hound has since Saun 714. During Saun 715 Rose asked him to take on more responsibility, explaining that the ladies 'liked what they saw'. He took up a role as a 'companion' and was quickly promoted to 'Hound'.

Imarie is quite a character who's face is expected to be seen where ever she goes, one of the older folk of Rharne who is quite familiar with its history she carries with her great influential social skills. Like many others who work the service of a barmaid or barkeep she is well known for her uncanny but wonderful people skills, bound to bring an experience of enlightenment as she enjoys enthusiasm and idealism. She isn't one who is easily offended and is bound, if not determined, to bring a smile out of anyone she encounters, and delivers a very much down to earth sense of personality in her conversations.

A lady who comes from a background in the Earth Quarter she spends her usual work period as a barmaid, while utilizes her fantastic cooking skills when the kitchen needs a staff. She enjoys the work of baking more than anything and is sometimes bound to show at a social event, with treats and other baked goodies to share throughout the day. That said she may thrive with enthusiasm for her community, but is well known for her mean temper if one acts ill around her. She is quite stern and isn't afraid to shoot from the mouth either; therefore she is bound to great verbal aggression until the oppressor gives in and backs down.

Myron is an incredible but at the same time vividly odd fellow that roams the streets of Rharne daily, a performer that prefers to provide history lessons in the form of riddles and questionnaires. He is an old soul with a deep passion for art and music, and holds much wisdom and understanding of the world around him. His inspiration first stemmed when he was a young boy who first learned to play the lute as a simple entertainer, but with such passion for literature and poetry and a keen interest in history, he later became an individual that spun stories both out of literature and history. This later earned him the title of Myron the Riddler rather than just Myron the Bard, both titles something that he has fittingly carried with him for many, many years in his career.

The Butcher’s Block

The Butcher’s Block is meat specialty restaurant located in the Earth Quarter across from a popular butcher’s shop. It is a quiet venue with candlelight mood lighting and crisp wine tablecloths with decorative black napkins. Started in 650 Vhalar, the building itself isn’t quite as old as some of the surrounding establishments. It was started by Bren Clarke and has remained in the Clarke family, passing down to his daughter, Leesa Clarke, then to his granddaughter, May Clarke who now runs the establishment. The Clarkes have always run a classy establishment, boasting only the freshest of meats and an impressive list of wines. The dining room is full of mostly intimate tables (four or less) with a few large round tables and seats 75. Off in a cozy corner towards the back of the dining room is an elevated platform with a piano. Most nights at least the piano is being played and the player is often joined by a singer. There is a single private room off to the right filled with the same tables and can seat up to 30. On the right wall is a small bar with a few barstools where drinks are made. In the back is the kitchen where the meat is freshly cut and cooked. Open for lunch and dinner.

The Infirmary

The Infirmary is a healing center at the heart of the Earth Quarter. The building is made of light stone blocks and earth with a heavily thatched roof. In times of crisis, a tent is erected outside for the less serious cases. Through the front doors is a desk where patients may check in. To the left is a hall that leads to one large room known as The Ward. Within it is housed thirty-five beds with crisp white linens, each with a bedside table. The room contains places for boiling water and cabinets for supplies. Along the walls are small bookshelves housing books on medicine and surgery. The windows behind each bed have thin white curtains that can be drawn or pulled back. To the right is a hallway that leads to ten individual rooms where more private health concerns are addressed. Each room has a bed with crisp white linens, cabinets that house supplies, and the means for boiling water. In the very back of the building is a large room where the three heads practice their art and take time to themselves.

Shadow Network

The shadow quarter is not a physical area of Rharne that one can wander through. It is a section created by whispers and rumors inspired off the networking and multiple coverups Kingpins of Rharne use to stay wealthy and out of prison. It is comprised of criminals and cultists who slither within the shadows using blackmail, bribery, and/or underhanded tactics to retain what they desire. Those that try to involve themselves in the Shadow Quarter usually wind up clueless or missing.

It’s not recommended for anyone to waltz around Rharne asking where to find the closest dirty money maker. The ‘Shadow Network’ is a secret among trade as even the Merchant's Guild will not share the names nor whereabouts of these people and associated parties. Repercussions are interlocked with the opportunity of knowing such information and often times, involves a few bodies popping up here and there. However, if one is smart about who they associate with, they may find themselves in front of a Kingpin striking up a deal. It’s all in who you know and how you play the game that will give you access to the Shadow Network.

Magniconeli “Cheshire” Eiretor

Known as the “Cheshire” throughout the network, Magnic is one of the Kingpins of Rharne and has been residing in the city for nearly 2 Arcs now. Due to government investigations, he is about to move operations once more. Cheshire carries with him a special amulet that somehow repels Immortals, hiding him and his illicit activities from the reigning ruler of Rharne.

Cheshire is involved with trafficking drugs, slaves, and alcohol to and from the city. He has a number of affiliates both in the government and beyond that help cover up any mistakes his employees may cause. He keeps all of his connections close, both by blackmail and dirty money. If he was to go down, a number of other people would follow.

Those that are employed under his operation a paid handsomely, not only to keep their mouth shut but to ensure the success of whatever tasks he places them on. Should his employees fail, he is known to dish out cruel torture before ending their lives.

Yoora “Witch Doctor” of the Veil
Yoora is known for her impeccable beauty and enchanting, mesmerizing demeanor. Some wonder is she is a lost heir to some noble family of Rynmere as she carries herself with such grace and fluidity of which might take someone a lifetime to master. She is the Witch Doctor of Rharne, specializing in a variety of powerful magics and enchanted items to keep her both anonymous and protected.

The Witch Doctor specializes in drug and poison craft, often manufacturing new, enticing drugs that as tested on unsuspecting people— mainly the Cheshires goonies. She makes her profit off of commissions from the other kingpins, often charging an arm and a leg for the items she makes, however, she never fails to craft something both beautiful and powerful.

She is a deadly woman who hires only those who’ve proven their worth to her. The Witch Doctor trafficks poisons, deadly addictive drugs, and enchanted items that could cause massive damage.

Thanec “Practitioner” Golovanis

The Practitioner meddles in the darkest forms of worship and is said to have achieved blessings from those Immortals who seek to rid the world of humans. He is a spoken mirror to those Immortals, pressing faith and worship where there should be known in the darkest corners of the city.

He has use kidnapped victims as sacrifices during his occult rituals, sacred animals, and torture to show favor and devotion for those that deem him worth. Psychotic and verging on madman, the Practitioner sweeps those who wish to be faithful to his Immortals under his wings, showing them how to commit to the faith with mind, body, and soul. It is said he’s used his own, fellow worshipers as blood sacrifices or has commanded the flaying of few for his devoted cause.

The Practitioner is devoted to Faldrun, Sintra, Kata, Aelig, and Mastes. He buys slaves and drugs to use for sacrifices if he cannot manipulate others into it.

Delana Gems
Delana Gems are green crystals that are ether soaked and imbued with special enchantments that conceal all who adorn them from the eyes and perception of an Immortal. Named after the legendary Original Being who supposedly escaped the Great Shattering, Delana Gems are very rare to come by and are most often found when a powerful mage is nearby, spelling them into existence. If done correctly, these gems will glow a soft green when an Immortal is attempting to find the individual wearing them, regardless of distance.
