The Decked Halls
Somewhere in Almund, there is a place where testosterone and fists fly. It is a secret place, a hidden place, and if you've never been to Yaralon, this place makes a good substitute. Wedged between two ships that seemed to have been impaled on each other near the coast of Almund sits The Decked Halls, an underground fight club run by a Yari native who wanted to feel just a little bit more at home in Scalvoris. The club meets every night and so in Cylus and Ashan it is almost always running.
The Decked Halls do not sell drinks or provide anything more than bread to chew on so you know your teeth are still in and water to drink to wash the blood out of your mouth. In the Decked Halls you are there for one thing, combat. Glorious combat. You are either fighting, betting, or watching and cheering. You do not eat, drink, and gawk, you battle. There is an arena in the center which is denoted by markings on the floor but the otherwise open floor plan means that brawls may spread beyond the confines of the arena and as such The Decked Halls is generally not a safe place to become distracted by conversation. There are ten bit breaks between fights for conversation, otherwise it is all about combat.
Club membership is granted to anyone who can survive The Crucible; a challenged designed to weed out the weak from the strong. The Crucible is a ten on one fight where the initiate is put up against ten club members- and there are always at least ten club members present and they are made to fight for five bits. Should the initiate be able to hold their own for the five bits, they're admitted into the club.
Admission into The Decked Halls allows you to place bets and to participate in brawls. When you become a member, you are a member for life. There are few greater friends than the ones you can make here. Something about the environment just seems to bring everyone closer together, even when beating the triallights out of each other. Members are not aloud to directly address each other outside of The Decked Halls unless each member deems it socially appropriate. This is a rule that was put in place to help maintain the secrecy of The Decked Halls, the other important rule was a simple one...
You don't talk about the Decked Halls.
Some have theorized that the Crucible is really in place to punish individuals for breaking that rule.
Other Rules Include: - Magic use must be agreed upon before the battle.
- Weapons are allowed, but lethal force is discouraged.
- Training weapons are not allowed, we are warriors not children.
- Fighters who kill their opponents are expected to make the proper reparation with the next of kin and are suspended for the following season.
- All fights begin and end in the arena, no where else.
- If the Elements arrive, scatter.
