Just had a few clarifying questions about the Yludih. When I was reading their race sheet I noticed it says
Can shift between two races and animals, animal form must be learned. Gender cannot be shifted.
I've assumed that means that the Yludih can switch back and forth between two races, similar to how I have described on my CS. Is this the case, or am I misinterpreting?
Languages: Yludih language is mostly spoken in Uleuda. This is required to receive an education. A Yludih will learn a native language of another race to truly blend into society. An optional language spoken is Qa in which is a coded language used in the various languages throughout Idalos.
Also, it mentions that a Yludih will learn to speak Yludih, but it also says that they learn another to blend in. Would this be classified as a basic language, or do I start with two Fluent Languages? Also, can someone explain to me what Qa is?

hey there,
understandable questions you have.
I'm not the Yludih expert here, but I looked a previously approved Yludih character, Alpha, and saw her with:
"Languages Spoken: Basic: Common
Fluent: Xanthea"
She is shown to have human-like and mer-like forms. So I think you've got that part right.
As far as languages go, Alpha made a point of having some kind of amnesia episode, so she does not have the Yludih language as one of hers. She opted for the Sev'ryn language, Xanthea, as it fit her backstory.
You could definitely take Yludih, but then limit yourself to only one language of a different race. At this time, the Ithecal do not have a language of their own, so common should do the trick just fine for both your forms.
As for "Qa", sorry, I'm still trying to track that one down. But it looks as though it would be instead of common if you chose it anyway, so you're probably better off.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast.
So I should be fine sticking with what I've got then, and I'll just have to make a point of expanding her knowledge of common at some point along the way.
And yeah, I'm probably going to stick with Common over Qa.

Hi Alex, I've been fairly busy lately and was only now able to look at this.
Mal put you on the right path (props Mal).
For your first question:
The Yludih can switch between two different races - your CS is correct.
For the language:
Common tongue and Yludih are a good choice for starting languages.
The Yludih language is spoken in both Uleuda (the dimensional city shared by the Yludih) as well as between the Yludih people in Idalos. Care must be taken not to speak their native tongue within earshot of others as the Yludih are an outlawed people.
When your character discovers Uleuda (and depends entirely on you when this happens), usually at night, she will be able to communicate freely to fellow Yludih in the Yludih language.
Qa is a coded language. It is not necessary for your PC to learn it yet. The language is more of a way of speaking and can be done with any language in Idalos, so that no one will think twice. I honestly haven't fully developed the language but it will be kinda like speaking in nonsense and riddles (seen Oceans 12??) <----Though it is not as ridiculous as this example of course.
The coded language was developed in the early days of the Yludih when they had secret networks operating. After the networks were sequentially killed off from betrayal and so on, their discovery of Uleuda allowed them to connect anonymously without fear of persecution. Thus the coded language was no longer the only way to communicate. But - Qa is still used among Yludih and can be very advantageous to know.
