Rharne Fighting Circuit | All Season | As a city of brawlers, the fighting spirit of everyday fighters is an identifying mark of its culture. Drink Up! | All Season | Alcohol and brewing are undoubtedly another prominent feature of Rharnean life, along with the constant noise and loud partying that often accompanies the sharing of libations. As such, the people of Rharne are always on the lookout for the next great home brewed beer, ale, wine, spirit or liquor that the next brewmaster may concoct, as the basis for starting a tavern or just sharing among their social circle. Those who engage in the production of and sharing of new brews will surely earn the eternal praise of the Rharnean people. (Mod-Input)Open

The Festival of Lights | 1st Cylus | Though the trials are dark, Rharnians know that hope will always exist so long as there is light - and alcohol. This hope is symbolized on the first trial of Cylus when many Rharnians gather at the gates of Rharne to celebrate the "Festival of Lights". Each Rharnian brings an unlit candle or lantern and, at the 19th break, Thunder Priestesses/Priests make their way through the crowd to light the candles and brighten the darkness. A parade is then led by the Priesthood, starting at the Earth Quarter and ending in the Sky Quarter just outside of the Lightning Cathedral. It is often a noisy procession, filled with laughter and music and song. Throughout the rest of the season, the Lightning Cathedral keeps candles lit in the prayer space. It is the Chanter Charter's job to ensure the candles do not go out until the 1st of Ashan. Many businesses also keep candles or lanterns lit in their windows during this time.Open

Blinding Hangovers | 2nd Cylus | Following the morning after the Festival of Lights, many Rharnean Citizens and also visitors who engaged in the festivities report that whenever they glance at a candle, they go blind. Many of these afflicted report also having a hangover during the blindness phase. The phase lasts for several breaks, but repeats if they look at another lantern/candle or other source of flashing illumination. This becomes a problem during the Lightning Snowstorm later in Cylus.Open

Performative Reconciliation | 6th Cylus | Seeing that the policy of a curfew was highly unpopular, and not only that, but also highly ineffective in shutting down the carrying out of mummer's plays and other performative acts, the Council has repealed the ban on theatrical performances and mummer's shows in general. In fact, performances of all kinds will be funded and had throughout the entirety of Cylus, offering extra renown and wealth for those who participate in these Cylus shows.Open

Raionan Bookworm Seeks Exchange | 9th Cylus | A newly arrived Raionan scholar has decided to host a knowledge, research, and book exchange at the Dizzy Wizard Tavern. All scholars and those possessing books of all kinds and interests are welcome to attend. The Raionan is offering research lessons to any who will listen, particularly research pertaining to archaeology, specifically ancient sites in Nashaki. He also has an interest in anyone who has information on various sites of archaeological interest in Rharne. He's paying for drinks, on top of it all, so a potential scholar has nothing to lose by attending. (mod-input)Open

The Wizzard of Rharne | 14th Cylus | A great blizzard sweeps through Rharne, punctuated by flashing lightning as the snow falls in fluffy mounds. While the Lightning hasn't presented a direct hazard to those on the ground, working or playing in the snow, it has prompted many suffering from the blindness hangover to relapse, and are rendered entirely blind until the last day of Cylus. It's a medical mystery. Meanwhile, the Dizzy Wizard coins the term "Wizzard of Rharne" for the peculiar lightning snow storms that have developed. They even devise a new drink by the same name, from sweet spirits that contain notes of peppermint.Open

Ilaren's Cap in the Snow | 27th Cylus | Where lightning has grazed the snow, during the Wizzard of Rharne, Ilaren's Cap mushrooms have sprouted, where they usually only grow on the island of Vyrelle's lake ice. Now they can be found all over snowbanks in Rharne City. The Tappers of the Priesthood are in a bit of a bind, as this mushroom is sacred to Ilaren, yet all sorts of people are using it to experience the hallucinatory effects. The Thunder Priesthood has put out a bounty for all the caps one can gather, and also a bounty for those willing to study the cap, and understand why it has suddenly grown outside of its usual habitat.Open |

Bad Dog | 13th Ashan | A local stray has been kicked to the curb by the Tribune Kennel's owner. They have tried to rehabilitate this animal, to no avail. It will pick fights, bite, and generally make a riotous mess of every trial under the roof of the Kennel. The dogs are miserable, and the Tribune Kennel's owner is at the end of their rope. Is it truly a demon dog, or just a hopeless canine that requires a loving home to the stone floors of a messy and noisy kennel. The Tribune Kennel keeps getting him back after every owner tries him out, reporting all manner of strange activity around them, including but not limited to nightmares, children speaking in tongues, and random ghostly possessions. This strange affliction has attached itself to several of the dogs now, and it's only getting worse. What's going on with these pooches? Ilaren herself has offered a reward for anyone who can get to the bottom of this trouble'd dogs seeming curse. (Mod-Input)Open

Rharnean Jatorrizkoa | 15th Ashan | A good number of Igelak migrating to Rharne undergo the strange and remarkable reproduction cycle of their race. Unfortunately, many of these Igelak opt to do so in bodies of water that are privately owned within backyard ponds, and fountains, and busy beaches, alarming locals and causing a bit of an uproar. This is only slightly mitigated by the very cute and small Berriakoa who emerge from these tainted water features, engaging with and socialization with anyone and everyone nearby. Very curious beings that learn very quickly at a young age. The older Igelak are not so swift to learn, however.Open

Umbral Howling | 27th Ashan | Unearthly howling can be heard echoing from the Umbral Caverns.. Remarkably, this howling is accompanied by echoes that make it all the way to Rharne Proper, around the Earth Quarter near the harbor. The howling tends to occur at dusk, during crescent moon phases of the red moon, Rhakrii. Rumors abound of a Sessfiend, or a cursed of Syroa that slipped through the cracks during the Windshear Brotherhood's attack. Those investigating should consult with the Lightning Knights and Thunder Priesthood, if only to record their identities for the sake of next of kin. (Mod Input)Open

Fortune's Favorite? | 47th Ashan | A well-publicized gambling contest is held in the barrel pot, where many of the best gamblers in Rharne have gathered to try their hand against any and all challengers. Those who participate in a gambling match at this venue during this date, will often come away with more than the usual windfall. (1 wp per skill level in gambling). However it's also reputed for hosting big losers too. Strangely enough, those who lose a substantial amount of wealth in these contests, will experience an event of extraordinary luck in the next few days. (Record a loss of 5 wp during this event, and seek mod-input for a random luck event, we can discuss details in PM).Open

Freedom Flower Fest | 108th Ashan | In honor of all those who facilitated the emancipation of all slaves in Rharne, and arriving in Rharne, Ilaren has declared a day of honor for the Immortal of Freedom, Ashan, during his own season. Three arcs and a cycle from the fateful Vhalar day, where Ilaren vowed that no enslaved person setting foot on Rharne shores shall be held in bondage, a festival and florist contest will be held. The most beautiful flowers and boquets presented will find a place in the Lightning Cathedral itself, and the ones who cultivated them will be given a grant for their future gardening endeavors. It's encouraged to bring flowers to anyone who suffered bondage of any sort during their life, as a gesture of goodwill. (mod-input for the florist contest)Open

River Cruises | 110th Ashan | The weather gets balmier in late Ashan, and the melting snows have lifted the levels of the Zynyx to where it's flowing fast and free. As such, many taverns sponsor what they call 'River Cruises' to generate interest in their brews and wares and specific culture of their tavern. People are free to join in these cruises, for one tavern or another, or to capitalize and try their own hand at concessions. Anyone who makes a try and capitalizing on the trend may earn extra renown or wealth.Open

Founder's Festival | 120th Ashan | The Founder's Festival typically takes place in the Glass Quarter during five trials in Ashan. These trials may vary from arc to arc, but generally occur during the end of the season when the weather is warmer. Stalls and tables are set for a public banquet, and a feast is held day and night for all five trials to commemorate the Immortal Ilaren and the founding history of Rharne. The Festival includes speakers from various factions and businesses, busker performances, storytelling, and plenty of alcohol. Local taverns also tend to hold a variety of fighting competitions throughout the city.Open |
