So much was happening all at once that it was hard to keep track of it all. Ari'sora had been feeling light headed from the blood loss caused by her injury so that might have clouded her perception of things. She did thank Dr. Thorne for giving her the domain bag, though. He asked how she had been injured, and she hesitated before she answered.

"I don't understand everything about it, but I was there when Emea fell. Several of us had to make sacrifices in order to wake the Twins, but they were killed instead. One of those sacrifices caused this to happen. Whenever I get angry, the anger cuts into me; the stronger the anger, the worse the resulting injury. The obvious solution is to never get angry...but that is much easier said than done."

Wald touched her shoulder, and she flinched, but she didn't pull away. She didn't know any of these people, and she had no reason to trust any of them. And she knew from painful experience that being touched by another was rarely a good thing...unless it was Shadow or Ryl who was touching her. Her friends had never given her any reason to fear their touch.

But before she could react, her wound just...vanished. Startled, Ari'sora looked up at the man with wide, uncertain eyes. She didn't understand how, but somehow the man had healed her with that single touch. No. That was wrong. As Ari'sora continued to stare at Wald, her injury appeared on his body. Somehow he had done something to transfer her injury to him. And Ari'sora had no idea how to feel about that never mind how to react. She felt gratitude, of course. She was also worried that the wound he had taken from her would cause him serious harm. That worry was slightly negated by the fact that Dr. Thorne was there and would hopefully be able to help him. Even above everything else, she was deeply confused by the whole thing. Why had Wald taken her injury? People just didn't do that! Not for her, at least. What was he going to want from her in return? Whatever it was, Ari'sora would have to do it if it was something that she could do. She owed the man a great deal, and she was determined to pay it back.

"Thank you." she told the man softly.

"But how...?"

Why was also an important question, but Ari'sora couldn't quite bring herself to ask that question yet. Wald asked about her injury, and she shook her head.

"I'm not...thanks to you. Really, thank you. What can I do to pay you back?"

Ari'sora was well on her way to calming down until ChiChi screamed at her. The creepy looking woman accused her of being vile, spoiled, vain, and self absorbed. Then she showed her a brand on her shoulder. Ari'sora recognized that brand; her mother had a similar one. It was a slave brand from Athart. There was also a mass of scar tissue, and even with Ari'sora's limited skills in healing she could tell that the mass indicated arcs of suffering.

Part of her sympathized with ChiChi for her suffering. But that part of her was buried under the larger part that was deeply hurt by the woman's accusations. Pain lanced her lower back beneath her wings, and in her right thigh as her anger returned. It was milder this time, eclipsed by the hurt she felt, but it was very much there.

"Did I ever once say that I thought I was the only one who has been enslaved?" Ari'sora asked softly, her voice trembling with emotions.

"I don't believe that I did, and I would appreciate you not accusing me of saying things I haven't said."

She paused, struggling with her emotions. Hurt was safer than anger, so she tried to shift her anger into hurt. It helped a little in the sense that she was able to prevent herself from erupting into fury again, but the anger she felt stubbornly refused to fade or shift into any other emotion.

"Again you call me spoiled. I am not, but it's possible that you think I should have been fed less, and as a result, you think I was spoiled. Were my mother alive for you to ask, she would agree with you on that. She hated me too, and she often told me that our master fed me too much. Had it been left to her, I would have been fed a quarter of a piece of bread every fourteen trials, or allowed to starve to death. But our master wanted me to be strong enough to do my work. Still...perhaps you agree with my mother on the issue of food? If so, from that perspective, you could say I was spoiled."

Ari'sora tried to look at it from that perspective. It was one she would never agree with, but ChiChi seemed to hate her as much as her mother had, so maybe the woman really did feel that way. Strangely, trying to look at the accusation from another angle helped her to manage her anger a little; just enough to keep it from getting worse. She wasn't sure what to say to the other accusations. She didn't think she was any of those things, but simply saying she wasn't didn't seem like it would be effective, so she said nothing about them. The accusation of being vile cut a little too close to home. Her mother had accused her of being vile and worthless every time she spoke to her. And while Ari'sora didn't believe that she was vile, deep down she was afraid that she was worthless.

"As for an apology...what exactly do you think I owe you an apology for? Telling the truth? Others may not think you're creepy looking, but I do, and to say otherwise would be lying. I said you remind me of a monster that looked like a child and tried to eat people, and that I have no evidence either way if you are one too. That is also true. I didn't actually say you were one. And if you're angry because I suggested you wouldn't give me any of your supplies if I needed them...why would that make you angry?" Ari'sora asked in angry bewilderment.

"Most people would do that. At least...most people in my experience would. You hate me, so you have no reason to want to help me. People who hate someone usually want the person they hate to suffer. So why would you waste your supplies on me when someone else you do like might need them too? It only makes sense to think you wouldn't!"

When Dr. Thorne brought Wald into the other room, Ari'sora followed them. He worked on Wald, and she was happy that he was being treated first. His wound was more severe than hers was, and it was her fault that he was injured in the first place. Had she been strong enough to resist getting angry in the first place, she wouldn't have gotten injured by her anger, and he wouldn't have done...whatever he did to take her injury in her place. Yeva entered the room, and Ari'sora assumed that she would help Wald too.

"I think Wald did something...but I don't know what he did." Ari'sora said when the doctor commented on her "suddenly getting better."

Her own wounds were bleeding, but not as badly as the first one had. The one on her thigh looked like it might need stitches, but it was smaller than the one on her side had been. She couldn't get a close enough look at the wound on her lower back to see if it would need stitches as well, but she could already feel her blood soaking through her clothes.

Ari'sora's first instinct was to try and treat them herself. But she had never tried to stitch someone up before, and she knew that treating yourself was harder than treating someone else because you would be distracted by the pain you felt while doing so. And the wound on her back would be very difficult for her to take care of since she couldn't even see it properly. Dr. Thorne asked Yeva to treat her injuries, but Ari'sora had no reason to think that the other woman would want to help her. If she did, Ari'sora would owe her a debt just as she owed one to Wald for taking her first injury.

Re: [Faldrass] FIre-Forged Group B

120 Ashan 720

Yeva paused at the door and listened to the other men in her group speak. They were in agreement, believing the injured should stay back while the group continued, ChiChi specifically. Yeva also shared this sentiment. Ari'sora's outbursts were dangerous - they were emotional and volatile and still digging, resorting to petty physical comparisons that frustrated the young medic. Masking hurtful words as 'truth' was not only frustrating, but a horribly toxic trait she had witnessed time and time again. And for what? Everything seemed to be calming down and yet Ari came back reiterating feelings that were not productive in the slightest. Yeva took a deep breath, struggling with a sense of helplessness and tried to piece together the new information. Anger, Emea, accusations, "This isn't productive!" Clutching her bag, Yeva hoped they would just stop. Why couldn't they bite their tongue and let it go! "ChiChi, please! Let Yeva help!"

How could she keep her promise?

Yeva was clearly upset when she moved into the hallway, brow knitted in a look of concern. She wasn't angry but... worried. Ari'sora was convinced ChiChi hated her... But ChiChi said she had no hate in her heart. Was it possible Ari was projecting her insecurities, her fears? If she came from a slave background or one of mistreatment... It was very possible, wasn't it? There were days when she struggled in her own way. How could Yeva mend such a cataclysm of broken trust?

Joining Devin and the injured, Yeva still stayed quiet and removed her buckler, listening closely as Ari spoke of Wald's intervention. A magical connection between injury? An oddity, but certainly not out of the question. Yeva followed Devin's lead, washing her hands, although her style of preparation differed. She laid out her necessary supplies and spoke with a glance upwards seeing the blood that collected on the woman's leg, "I can help you, but I need to see the extent of your injury to begin treatment... Are you comfortable removing your clothes?" The thigh was a more personal place, and she motioned towards the men behind her while pulling on a pair of gloves in an effort to consider her patient's feelings, "I can give you my cloak for a barrier if you prefer."

If Ari'sora wished, Yeva would continue treatment. She would sanitize her needles and wash the would with gentle hands, her characteristic bashfulness surprisingly absent. Medicine - the caring of others - it was perhaps her biggest strength and the one thing she felt at ease in. Even when she was unsure, she always felt there was a solution; something to be done. And she would do so if given the clearance until all wounds were treated and bandaged, "I believe everyone has the right to feel safe," she offered softly, either after her administrations were done, or before, if Ari'sora would push to question her motives or deny her. A member of the Order, Yeva believed fervently believed in offering aid to anyone who needed it, but she couldn't force anyone, "The group has taken a... a vote."

Per se.

Her words weren't a lie; Oram, Darius and herself felt the same. Kalortah was gone and ChiChi had only asked her to keep the woman from hesitating or else they were all at risk. There were many ways to be useful, and staying back was not dishonorable. And then, with Wald... It would simply be unwise for him to join them, "This is not something ChiChi suggested, but we were all in agreement."

Yeva's chewed her lip, struggling to look at the two party members. This part would be much harder and she was scared of the push back she would receive. She didn't have experience giving difficult news, "The want you removed from the expedition - It's safest for everyone if both of you stayed here with Dr. Thorn... And knowing what I know now... about your affliction and current level of health, I..I support that decision and I hope you both understand. I'm sorry."

This was about so much more than any one of them. Couldn't' they understand that?

With a sort of pained expression, Yeva collected her things and went to rejoin the group. She had no idea what would happen next.

Being away from ChiChi helped to allow Ari'sora to calm down. Without the woman's cruel words to rile her up, she didn't feel driven to respond to them. And as she began to calm down, her more rational side took control once more. Ari'sora bit her lip as she thought about the situation she was in.

She wanted to help...she really did. That was why she had responded to the Baron's request for help in the first place. But the thought of going into the caves with the others was a terrifying one. She was a creature of the wind and sky. She had never been able to fly while she was Ren'zar's slave but since she had been free, flying had come to mean freedom to her. While she was in the caves, it would be likely that she would be unable to do so. What if she got trapped down there? There was also the fact that volcanoes meant heat...intense heat to be exact. Feathers were highly flammable, and the idea of her wings catching on fire and her burning alive was only slightly less horrifying to her than the thought of being trapped in the caves forever, or losing the ability to fly because of damage done to her wings.

Even with all of that, she still wanted to help. She was willing to go into the caves despite her fears if doing so would be of help to others. But her fears caused her to be on edge, and that made it far easier for the impulsiveness of her Avriel side to take over if it was given the slightest push...much like it had been when ChiChi had attacked her verbally.

ChiChi. Their guide was another problem. The woman clearly hated her. Ari'sora had said that that didn't matter; that she could work with someone who hated her. She had done so in the past, after all. But the Arcs when she and her mother had had to work together to please their master weren't quite the same thing as this, were they? Ari'sora had experience being under the control of someone who hated her just for existing, but being constantly berated and told how worthless she was while she worked was one thing. The punishments her mother had given her for even the slightest failure had rarely gone past the point where she would not be able to keep working. And when they had, her mother was punished for preventing her from working just as she was punished for her failure to do her work. She didn't trust ChiChi now any more than she had trusted her mother then. Could she really follow someone she didn't trust into a dangerous situation? Ari'sora wasn't sure. She was confident that she would be able to obey any order ChiChi gave her so long as the woman didn't call her spoiled and greedy anymore...but was that enough? Ari'sora knew she would never be able to ask ChiChi for spare equipment if something she had broke, or if she needed something she didn't have. Nor would she ever be able to tell the woman if she was injured. Doing either of those things would be begging ChiChi to take advantage of her failure and weakness and punish her for it.

Yeva offered to tend to her wounds, and Ari'sora gave her a look of gratitude. She was about to accept the other woman's offer when she added that she would have to remove her clothes in order to be treated. At that, she stiffened and eyed the two men in the room uneasily. Dr. Thorne was busy treating Wald's injury...an injury that Wald had taken from Ari'sora. It was partly her fault that he was injured since if she had been strong enough to keep her anger in check, she wouldn't have been injured in the first place. As it was, Wald's injury looked like it was too severe for him to be interested in...that. But after a season of being held captive at the hands of two men, and more recently several trials help prisoner in her own home by one of the men who had held her captive in Cylus of 719...the idea of taking her clothes off in a room where men were present was not a comforting one.

Ari'sora hesitated, but before she could decide whether to refuse or not, Yeva offered her cloak as a barrier. That simple gesture relieved Ari'sora a great deal.

"I would like that. Thank you." she replied gratefully as she offered the healer a nervous smile.

The wound on her thigh was worse than the one on her lower back. But the one on her back was located in a difficult position. It was just above her brand, and if she were try to fly in her current state, the wound might tear open further. While Yeva treated her injuries, Ari'sora continued to think about everything that had happened in an attempt to distract herself from the discomfort, as well as from the fact that there were two men in the room while she was less than fully clothed.

"I just wanted to help." she murmured softly, unaware that she was thinking out loud.

Everyone who had come to the Baron's house was presumably here because they wanted to help. When she and Ryl'ryn had heard the call for help, they had had no idea what was going on...just that the Baron needed help with something. Had she known it would involve something she had no clue how to do, would she still have come? Ari'sora liked to think so. Even someone with no knowledge of a particular subject could be useful if told what they needed to do.

"I've never been in a cave before. I don't know the first thing about climbing, or lightstones, or...any of it. But I wanted to help, so I needed to be prepared. I didn't know that ChiChi was going to bring extra supplies...was I supposed to?"

Was that why ChiChi hated her so much? For trying to take so many supplies? How was she supposed to have guessed that their guide would be packing extras for them? Besides, it's not like she was going to keep any supplies she took. She would return them as soon as their mission was over, of course. Did ChiChi think she was greedy because she thought that she planned to keep the supplies she wanted to take? Would it help if she told the guide that she didn't? None of the books she'd ever read about people exploring caves ever mentioned what supplies they would need to bring. Of course, those books had all been children's stories about kids searching for magic wishing lamps, or rare herbs to make medicine for a sick family member.

"I probably should have realized the equipment I wanted to take would be too heavy for me to carry for long periods of time but...but I have to be prepared. I have to. What I can or can't do doesn't matter. It's what I have to do that is important. It doesn't matter if I'm not strong enough to carry what is needed...if I'm weak, that's my fault. No one else should suffer for my weakness. If I choose the wrong equipment to take, or if I don't take enough for whatever we find there, and someone gets hurt or killed because we don't have the right equipment...it would be my fault. Partly, anyway. Because I wasn't prepared."

That was the way it always worked when she had lived with her master. If he needed or wanted something, and it wasn't ready for him, then it was her fault. It was the same way with Mi'zuri. And the punishments she had received for not anticipating the needs of her master and his daughter were among the worst she had suffered; only lesser to the ones she was given when her failure had driven him into a fury. Ari'sora shuddered slightly as she remembered some of the punishments she had earned for failure to anticipate the needs of others.

"I'll be punished if I'm not prepared."

Ari'sora frowned. That wasn't right.

"No...no I won't. Ma...Ren'zar was arrested. But I would deserve to be punished for it."

When Yeva had finished tending her injuries, Ari'sora was about to ask how she could pay the other woman back when Yeva explained that she believed that everyone had a right to feel safe. Ari'sora somehow got the feeling that an offer of payment might upset Yeva after hearing that. So she simply thanked her sincerely for helping her instead.

The mention of a vote confused Ari'sora, but she listened carefully to Yeva as she told them about the concerns the group had. The other woman looked anxious, but she had a very good point. Injuring herself every time she got angry was bad enough as it was. But if it were to happen in a cave with limited medical supplies available, it would be much worse. And staying behind would solve the problem of whether obedience without trust would be enough if she were to go.

"Don't be sorry, Yeva. I...I think you're right. I do want to help, but maybe there's something I can do here instead." she said softly, more than a little relief coloring her tone.

OOC: One of the reasons behind Ari'sora's thinking out loud is also a result from one of the sacrifices made here In a pressured situation, Ari'sora speaks her thoughts. She can't stop herself. This is also reflected to some degree in her responses in previous posts.

Re: [Faldrass] FIre-Forged Group B

A simple smile was given to Ari'sora. "There is no need to know how, it will not harm you." Wald shook his head. "You can stay strong, it is why I did it." The hunter still did not know why he did it, something in his mind caused him to take such actions.

Wald followed the doctor to the other room, his side giving discomfort as he walked. The hunter was already getting the belt for his chain mail undone, even as he got into the side room. He would sit when offered, as he removed his armor and the bloodied shirt. The wound just added to the scars he had, no reason to worry about scar tissue. "I have been stitched up plenty of times doctor."

The hunter sat through the surgery, staying almost completely still. Wald was basically the perfect body to practice needle work on. Feeling the inner and upper stitch work move through muscle and skin, he simply sat there dealing with the pain silently. When the doctor had finished, Wald gave a long sigh. "You can also singe the wound to make it a tighter seal." Wald had plenty of experience getting sliced and put back together at this point. This offer was to allow Wald more movement then the stitching alone.

Yeva soon started talking to the two injured members of the group, and she seemed to be nervous about what news was going to be delivered. At the end of her piece Wald shook his head. "I can not leave you to your fate, I do not think a one of you have ever led people before." Wald pointed to his injury. "Even with this, I can do plenty. Knowledge is an important tool, and I have two sets of eyes." If Devin was not going to singe Wald's flesh, he would move up from his seat. "I will return to the group, I hope you do not think less of me for it, but the few of you need the help." Trying to get Wald to leave this group will take much more then persuasion, his mind was molded to protect people thanks to the acts of a certain student.

Just when it seemed like things might be starting to come around.

In the equipment room, ChiChi had been talked down by Yeva, which was helped by Oram, then Darius. Kal had left, deciding that it was beyond something he wished to deal with. ChiChi, meanwhile, nodded. "I vill. I vant to help, I do. But, too many deaths on zese hands, I can not... but yes. Ve vill go, and ve vill help and....." She started pulling together her things again, and then she nodded. "It is time to ....."

But what it was time to do - was not really something that anyone found out.

In the room next door, meanwhile, Yeva broke the news to Ari'sora while she and Devin worked. Wald was
warned
but chose to work with the group - a brave decision. So, Yeva and Wald re-joined the group, just in time to hear ChiChi say "It is time to...."

And really. There must be something against them because suddenly, just as they were getting ready to head out - a sudden (and quite obviously not normal - but this is Scalvoris) wind hit the windows, rattling them in their panes and then the room began to shake, the floor undulating slightly and ChiChi called out. "Get in a doorway!! In a doorway!"

Unfortunately, the PvP in Group C means that you continue to be stalled. However, for this round you may post - and describe your reactions to what is going on. If anyone would run outside to see what's happening (and you have no reason to believe that there's a fight - just a storm and earthquake) - then please let me know you're going to do that - but it will take time, so don't write any further than leaving the room. You have the first three ish seconds of a major earthquake on your hands here.

Relief.

That was the overwhelming sense that Darius felt as ChiChi was able to calm down and agree to remain as their guide. It would be a smaller group, of course, with Kalortah having abandoned them - not a great loss, in the seafarer's mind - but with Ari'sora and Wald also remaining back at the base camp...

Any contemplation of there only being four in the group moving forward was interrupted by Wald's return. The sight came as something of a surprise, and one blond eyebrow was cocked at the sight. This man had been bleeding heavily, (and somewhat inexplicably), only trills earlier, and now he was eager to enter the caves?

That was certainly a cause for concern, and Darius sent a searching gaze over the man as if doing so might reveal his health and wellbeing.

"You're sure you'll be okay?" he asked of the man in his usual gravelly tone, though his eyes shifted to Yeva for some sort of confirmation that Wald was fighting fit.

It was around then that ChiChi was gathering her items but she stopped mid-sentence. It took a trill for Darius to realise why, and then, all of a sudden, the floor began to shift. It might have frightened him earlier, but that it reminded him of the feeling of being on deck on the ocean, and that was so familiar to him that he didn't immediately recognise the danger. But when he did, he was quick to react.

He abandoned his equipment and rushed towards Yeva, as the room echoed with the rattling of window panes. He wrapped one arm around her comparatively small frame, almost picking her up as he pushed her back into the doorway whence she'd come. He stood there with her, back against one side of the doorframe and hands pressed against the other side so that his arms were above Yeva's head.

It wasn't a very graceful action, by any means, and he probably hadn't been as delicate as he'd liked to have been, but instincts had kicked in and he'd reacted before he'd had half a chance to think.

Ari'sora got dressed quickly after Yeva had finished tending to her injuries. She followed the other woman back into the other room, her thoughts racing wildly. She wanted to help. That was why she had come here in the first place. That desire was why she had been willing to go into the caves with the others no matter how much it frightened her. But they didn't want her to go with them. She didn't have to go into the volcanic caves and that was a huge relief for her. But she felt guilty as well.

What was wrong with her that she felt relieved not to go? Shouldn't she want to go into the caves with the others? Even Wald wanted to go, and he was seriously injured because of her. What was wrong with her that she was less willing to risk herself in those caves than he was? And yet...what good would she be even if she did go? She didn't know anything about exploring caves. And her fears of being underground and of sparks from the volcano landing on her wings and setting her on fire would have her constantly on edge to the point she was likely to explode...like she had when ChiChi had said what she did. Perhaps she owed ChiChi an apology after all. The woman had said horrible, untrue things about her...but she shouldn't have reacted the way she had.

Those were the thoughts that filled her mind as Ari'sora followed Yeva back into the other room. She heard ChiChi start to say something, but her words were lost as a violent wind sprang up, rattling the windows. Ari'sora's eyes widened, but before she could react, the ground began to shake.

Ari'sora's first instinct was to get outside. Nothing could fall on her if she was outside. But before she could act, ChiChi told everyone to get into a doorway. Ari'sora obeyed instantly. An order was an order, and she had just been given one. Unfortunately, she chose the wrong doorway. Even as she moved towards it, Darius and Yeva appeared in the doorway. There was no room for her there, so she fell back. She bated her wings frantically, trying to keep her balance as the ground continued to shake. Was there another doorway in the room she found herself in? If so, she would make her way to that doorway as quickly as she could. If not, instinct would take over, and she would attempt to fly. It might not save her from falling debris if the house were to collapse on top of her, but if she was in the air, she would at least be safe if the ground decided to open up beneath her.

Re: [Faldrass] FIre-Forged Group B

Abra cadabra! Don’t get crushed by a slab-ra!

Oram didn’t know the language that ChiChi and Yeva spoke in, but whatever Yeva told the redhead seemed to calm her down. He liked to think he had something to do with bringing ChiChi round, too, but he knew he wasn’t that much of a speaker. Whatever the reason, ChiChi declared that she would help, after all, and started to collect her things.

The hunter was just starting to feel a bit better about how things were going when other forces decided to make themselves heard. A sudden gust of wind struck the windows, which made a rattling sound Oram didn’t like. Then everything started to rumble and shift in a way he liked even less. A jet of rock dust crackled to the floor from overhead. Next he knew, ChiChi was shouting something about getting in a doorway. It was probably the most easily-understood thing the woman had said to that point.

His eyes swept the walls quickly for doorways. Darius had already acted, scooping Yeva up with him into one of them. Were there others? If he found one quickly enough, Oram would go for the next open doorway. Failing that, he would dive under the equipment table itself.

Having grown up on Scalvoris, it was not the first time Oram had felt the ground shake. But never had he been so close to the volcano, nor experienced a tremor as strong as this. He knew why ChiChi told them to go to a doorway: supposedly it was the place you were least likely to have something fall on your head or crush you if you couldn’t get outside.

As children, he and Osric had explored the ruins of an “ancient” stone building that had burnt mostly to the ground. Several intact archways had loomed amidst the wreckage, having withstood whatever collapsed the rest of the structure; he and his brother would pretend that one of them was an enchanted portal that would kill you if you tried to go through it without saying the magic words first.

As he braced himself beneath his makeshift shelter, Oram wondered if there were any magic words he could use to avoid getting killed today.

Wald was led back into the room with the others that stayed, and was almost instantly asked a question about his well being. Truth was, it hurt and he had to be careful, but it was not the first or likely last time he would work with an injury. "I am fine. I could not let you all go out wi..." Wald was interrupted by the starting of shaking. Then the shouting of ChiChi. The hunter blinked for a moment, as people were in a slight panic to go under door ways.

The large man pointed towards the table that held the equipment, as Wald shouted to his large flying cat. "Ari, under!" Ari would moved quickly to get under the table, as Ylfa followed with him. Falling objects were dangerous, there would be no way for a large cat to fit in the doorway properly. The man also had to assume the building would not just fall onto itself, though even then the door way could go with the building. If anyone was still not under a door way, Wald would try and get them under the table before he went under.

Wald braced his back against the table, just in case something heavy enough fell. He would soon pat the back of the large cat, trying to motion it to do the same. It would take some convincing to the animal, but once done the table would earn more support from falling objects. He did not have much experience with earthquakes. The very ground itself shaking was quite the experience, as he looked around for a moment.

Darius spoke to Wald, who had wandered in behind her and the sailor met her eye. She opened her mouth and tried to find the right words. She gave a small shake of her head; Wald shouldn't have been coming. It was dangerous. If they had to climb, or jump, or fight, he would only be at risk. It was bad enough that she was dead weight, wasn't it? And if there were creatures that could smell blood? She shrugged helplessly but the motion was cut short.

Interrupted by a small rumbling, a tickle that made her curl her toes and a curious look of confusion that passed her face while she tried to identify the sensation. Was she hungry? That was odd... Yeva touched her stomach and looked at the ground just as it began to shake. ChiChi shouted orders and when her eyes widened in fear, the sleeves of her friend's coat blocked her vision, Darius practically scooping her in one arm and dragging her under the door frame, "What's wrong? What's happening?" She clutched his arm and hugged his waist, the ground unstable beneath her as she tried to peer at the others. The others were diving under tables or corralling animals to safety, everything was happening so quickly.

And then there was Ari'sora, panicked and flying in the middle of the hall. She was already failing her promise to ChiChi, unable to keep her footing stable, let alone aid another, "Ari! Get in a doorway!"
