Hunters Patience

The Sev'ryn watched with fascination as the Immortal's eyes became distant, noting one of the wolves stood from his place on the forest floor and come to her. He was larger than a regular wolf, with thick fur that was patterned with dark grey and tan. His eyes were a rich amber, much like the color of a fine cognac held to the sunlight on a warm summer day, intense and wild. As he sniffed about her, the huntress held out her hand for him to smell, feeling comfortable that the large lupine creature would not harm her. Instead of touching her hand however, the wolf lifted his head to touch his nose to hers.

Kali'rial gasped as she felt a surge of power rush through her veins, closing her eyes against the almost frightening sensation. There was a murmuring sound, all around her in the clearing, and against her tongue she felt the unfamiliar point of her canines as they grew. Opening her eyes, the brunette felt her heart racing, looking into the gaze of the canine with her now own wolffish amber iris', a little concerned of what was happening. Suddenly there was a calming voice that sounded not from around her, but inside her mind.

"Be calm Kali'rial, and do not fear. My name is Sarkis. You are one of us now." Before her, the creature let his tongue loll from his mouth in a wolfish grin. Shaking her head, the young woman looked at him and then back to the Immortal, breathing a sudden laugh of amazement. Part of Karem's pack? The Sev'ryn felt a sudden sense of belonging, as though this had been her path all along. Looking up at the massive wolf as he bent to sniff her, the brunette reached out slowly to touch the soft ruff around his face. Her sense of awe was slightly dampened as he licked her entire face in one go, but not enough to destroy her wonder. Grimacing a little playfully, the Sev'ryn chuckled and wiped her face with her hand.

"I'm glad he likes me. Can't imagine being on his bad side." Turning to look at Karem and bowing her head, Kali placed a hand over her heart.

"Great Huntress, I am honoured and humbled by this gift. Thank you. I will seek out this Kura Mareth immediately on my return." Turning back to Sarkis, she reached out to stroke his velvety ears, smiling as the great wolf tilted his head into her touch before settling by her feet.

"Wolf-Walker..." She breathed to herself, before looking at the Great Elder with her new amber eyes. There were so many questions she had about the changes that burned inside her. What did they mean, how did she use them? All questions she would take to Kura, as advised.

"Thank you."

Karem smiled at Kali's reaction to getting her face licked by the great wolf. "Aye, most people who wind up on his bad side don't tend to have long to regret the choices they made in life." she said, her tone somewhat dry. When Kali thanked her again, Karem waved a hand. "Remember, I expect you to use Velduris. Don't thank me until you've had some time with it in practice, my servants are no strangers to trouble." she said, her tone slightly amused. "As for Kura, I would look in the halls of power. Inevitably, she will either be there, or will be close to them in some fashion. She never could keep herself out of politics for long." she said, a wistful, nostalgic look on her features.

Karem smiled as Kali thanked her again, then stood up. That feeling of welcomeness, of belonging, it was something many Wolf-Walkers shared once they were part of Karem's pack, it was what made wolves what they are. Mortals were similar, for all that they didn't realize it. They were not meant to be solitary creatures, and some primal part of them knew that. "Grab your kill, young one. It is time you returned home. I have my own hunts to attend too, and I'm sure you have as well." she said, her tone warm. Once Kali was ready, Karem set a hand on the young hunters shoulder. "Hunt well, Kali. We will meet again, when you are more." she said, as the forest and the Immortal faded, returning Kali to the riverbank, but now with a mighty deer as a prize and a wolf at her side, the markings of her visitation.

Velduris, with the following 3 powers.

Pack Bond: The Favored is granted an omega wolf familiar, a constant companion. The wolf is significantly more intelligent than regular wolves and is somewhat bigger. In addition, this spirit can communicate not only with it's companion, but with other wolves of its pack. Karem can, at any time, contact any of the wolves her blessing grants, but they can only contact her if she chooses to listen. If the wolf is too heavily drained or badly injured it will revert to a spirit form until it is either rested or healed. The wolf can also choose to revert to spirit form at will, though they generally only do so in crowded cities and such. The blessed can still communicate with their wolf in spirit form. The wolf can tell when someone else has been blessed by Karem, and will always be able to find others who bear Velduris.

Sense of Prey: A skill that allows the blessed to tell where a prey animal may be found nearby, allowing the wielder to always be able to find food at need. They can also tell whether people around them have weak combat skills or are easily intimidated.

Velduris Skills I: The blessing of Velduris enhances the bearer's survival, hunting, and animal skills, raising any one of the following skills by three points: Animal Husbandry, Animal Training, Fieldcraft, Ranged Combat, Thrown Combat, or Trap Making. Any skill points granted by this Mark can break the 100 point cap on skills.
