It was simple enough. With the Black Guard crackdown, the goods had to me moved and fast. Not that there would have been any problems if the guard actually found the stock in the hidden Underground room, it could not be traced to anyone in the Fence, but the loss of the items would still mean a loss of profits to the organization. Through Miss Givings, yet another buyer interested in cheap goods uninterested in the hassle of knowing where they came from was found. The crackdown was proven as nothing but an inconvenience as there were still those who did not care about the technicalities the guard were concerned of- they did not mind dealing with the crooked elements of Etzos for even a slight benefit.Overall, it was bad business but business was good and that was all that mattered to the Fence.
As F'mos had been briefed, it was only going to be a simple delivery job. Actually it was more than the usual simple delivery job because of the sheer bulk of the items which were requested, which was the reason why there were more people involved than the usual one shady scumbag which was needed. Otherwise it was the usual. Weapons and armor, jewelry, even some furniture... as he took stock with the others sent to ensure the job was done, F'mos could not help but feel a little bit appreciative of the fact that as a member of the organization, he was just at the right place to find out about the items as they were brought in and had first dibs on them if any struck his fancy. It was only bad for the others which came after him.
But they were still patrons which F'mos would have to eventually deal with because of his advantageous position with the Fence. He could not understand the other party's insistence on the meeting to happen at night. The former guard believed if the Black Guard of Etzos had the same mindset as the in City Guard of Sirothelle, they would be more vigilant at that time of the trial because they should also be aware all illegal activities were better conducted behind the shroud of darkness. He suggested to the rest of the crew that maybe they should reschedule to sometime when the Saun's up, the pattern of the Black Guard's searches were not even unknown to them and would be easily be predictable with time but the idea did not get much support.
Most of the Fence only wanted to get the job over and done with; the idea of going through Miss Givings again was also too big a hassle for anyone to consider the aukari's suggestion.
And so the job proceeded as initially planned. A whole group of unsavory delinquents with F'mos among their number with even more hot goods at a quiet spot near the market ramp. They waited and waited, the aukari eventually ready to return home with the idea to blame the wasted trial on Miss Givings since it was quite obvious the people she set the meet up with were not coming. Maybe he should even sneak off immediately. The whole lot of them would have to lug all the goods back and he did not want to expend anymore energy on this failed enterprise.
