As Ari'sora worked, obeying the instructions the man had given her about how to treat the woman who was choking, Mi'zuri stood to one side, demanding to know what she thought she was doing, and if she really thought that it would help. She continued to say that all she was going to do was make things worse, and say that she should stop before she killed the woman. But her sister's voice was shrill, and breathless with fear and worry. So although her sister's words hurt, and ate at her shaky sense of self confidence, she knew that Mi'zuri wasn't doubting her ability to follow instruction as much as she was worried about what would happen if the woman died despite her attempts to help. Would she be blamed if she failed the woman? And if so, would she be punished for her failure? Ari'sora shuddered to think of what the punishment for accidentally killing someone might be.
But that fear wasn't enough to stop her, and in the end, her efforts seemed to pay off. At the very least, she thought they were. Something shot out of the woman's mouth after the second blow, and the woman seemed to be able to breathe after that. Ari'sora didn't have long to feel happy that she had done something right for a change.
"Look out!" her sister called in alarm.
Ari'sora jumped, turning to see what had caused her sister to call out like that. She had mere trills to take in the fact that a giant wave was heading their way. A giant wave that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Her eyes widened, and she curled herself around the woman she had been trying to help in a futile effort to protect her from the rushing water. Then the wave was upon them, drenching them all.
Salt water stung her eyes fiercely as she sputtered, and gasped for breath. Then she began to shiver. The water was ice cold. Or perhaps it was the chill of the season that made it feel that way. Either way, the effect had shocked the breath out of her.
"Are you okay?" Ari'sora asked the woman she had been trying to help earlier when she could speak.
The little girl Ari'sora had seen earlier told her father that Vri was there. Ari'sora looked up in confusion, and sure enough, there were three people that she recognized from one of the books she had read over the arcs; Vri, Pier, and Pre were standing among them...and they were just as drenched as the rest of them were.
As Ari'sora stared wide eyed, doubting the proof of her own eyes, the man bowed, and introduced his sisters, Pier, and Pre. One of the women looked vaguely amused...but the other was clearly angry at their current situation. And who could blame them, really? Ari'sora wasn't happy, either. She hated it when her wings were wet. The two sisters exchanged a frightened, horrified glance.
"She did it." Mi'zuri said quickly, pointing at Ari'sora.
Ari'sora paled, her eyes widening in shock as she stared at her sister in horror.
"No, I..."
Ari'sora fell silent, not completing her protest. What was the use? Whenever her sister had done something that would have gotten her into trouble in the past, she always panicked, and blamed it on her. Ren'zar, and their mother always believed her, and punished her for whatever her sister had done. Why should this be any different? Neither of them had been responsible for the wave of water that had crashed over them, but Mi'zuri was in panic mode. And blaming Ari'sora had always gotten her out of trouble in the past, so she fell back on it now. Ari'sora was used to taking the blame for her sister's antics, so she knew that any protests on her part would only make the punishment worse.
"I'm sorry." she said softly, her voice barely more than a whisper in her dread over what kind of punishment three angry Immortals might give her over something like this.
The young girl's father introduced himself as Tristan Venora, as he spoke to the three Immortals. Ari'sora barely registered what he said, but she did get the point of his words; he was offering to help.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" she offered.
