Story Book Manor
Just to the north of the village of Beacon and within easy walking distance of Scalvoris Town, Story Book Manor in all of her elegant whimsy, sits nestled on four wooded acres overlooking the sea.
With a deep covered porch, or veranda, wrapped around the whole of the structure, the more imaginative might be tempted to say that the octagonal shaped manor resembles a festive three tiered, domed cake, with a turret placed just so as a topper. The effect is only enhanced due to the contrasting but complimentary colors and materials chosen for both the first and second levels of the home, and the large, domed third level, covered in copper and gone over with a multitude of small, mosaic lacquer tiles.
Spacious, elegant and tastefully appointed, the home seamlessly manages to bring that sense of whimsy and imagination indoors and throughout each level and room of the house, all the way up to the small turret atop the dome; and it appears that the manor is very well named. From the gleaming marble floors to the artfully carved beam and textured ceilings; the many hearths wrapped in colorful mosaic tiles to the murals and frescoes throughout the home; again to the tapestry upholstery and carpets and all the little artistic surprises in between, the theme of the manor, tastefully rendered, is the stuff of myths, fairy tales and legends both local and Idalos wide.
The interior of the dome is perhaps one of the current owner's most favored personal works. Rising high above the large open space that she's chosen for her bedchamber, bath and painting nook, is a fresco done as a loving tribute to her Immortal Father; rendered between gold gilded support beams in soothing shades of green and blue; and the many soothing colors and elements of sunrise and spring.
The surrounding property and the large garden just outside the manor itself manages to look natural and wild, and yet very well tended nonetheless: By design. A stone and wrought iron fence surrounds the manor itself, along with a two acre space used for gardens and neatly kept footpaths along with a wider drive from the gate. The remaining two acres is encircled in a similar way, in stone and iron, and includes a second, somewhat smaller but equally unique house that had come as part of the property. An arrangement that most certainly appealed to the artist in residence, considering what she had in mind for the unique little house.
