Seira looked around the house with a resigned sigh. It had been a while since she and Seira had done much in the way of cleaning the house, and it very definitely showed. Not that anything was disgustingly dirty or anything, but...there was a light but visible coat of dust on most of the surfaces that didn't get disturbed on a regular basis. There were a few drips on the floor in the kitchen where someone had spilled something and missed a spot when cleaning it up. And there were other similar signs that it was time for a good cleaning.
Seri walked up behind her, and grimaced when she noticed what Seira had been looking at.
"It's time, isn't it?"
Seira simply nodded.
"We might as well get started. The faster we get started, the faster we'll get the house cleaned, and we'll be able to do something else."
Seri nodded in agreement.
"Let's start with the dusting."
Having made their decision of where to start, the twins went to get the dust cloths that they would need. They started in the main living area and got to work. Seira atarted at one end of the room, and Seri started at the other. Every wooden surface was given a good dusting. When there were books, decorations, or anything else sitting on the surfaces they were dusting, they were picked up and dusted. Then they dusted the spot under the item in question. If it belonged where it had been, they put it back. If it did not, they put it where it did belong.
When they were finished with the dusting, they fluffed the cushions, and checked under them for crumbs. They made a small game of that task by seeing who could find the most crumbs. Seri won that little contest. Fortunately, there weren't many to be found, and the chore was finished quickly.
The next thing they decided to do was the windows. They had already dusted the windowsills when they had tackled the dusting, so that was one thing that didn't need doing. So once they had the supplies they needed to clean the windows, they split up and each washed a different window. That became a contest too; who could wash the most windows in the room? Seira won that contest, making it one win for each of them.
Once they finished cleaning the family area, they moved on to the kitchen. They split the work between them, and when they could, they made little contests out of the chores in order to make the work a little more interesting. Seira and Seri tackled the work one room at a time, cleaning everything that needed to be cleaned in one room before moving on to the next. When needed, furniture was moved so that they could clean underneath it. Between the two of them, it only took them six breaks to clean the house. Both of them were tired, and their arms ached from all of the scrubbing and heavy lifting they had done, but they had a feeling of accomplishment that they had gotten the necessary task done.
