PERSONA & APPEARANCE
appearance
The general consensus, as it is with all other Naerikk, is that Yndira is beautiful. Some would maybe choose other words for this, but any of them would work for her. This is, as previously stated, a default for her race. Her shadow form conforms to the general description of her race. She stands at five feet and three inches, making her of a smaller stature. This only seems to add to the desired effect of a demure, quiet young woman that could be bent to anyone’s desire. Depending on the person she interacts with, she might also draw herself inward to seem smaller, hunching her back slightly and ducking her head. It serves to make her seem much smaller, almost child-like. Her skin is a sandy color, soft as can be according to several of her previous companions. She’s always open for more opinions on the matter. As soft as her skin is, though, her most defining feature would be the shapely hips that draw so many in. She may not be so endowed up top, but there’s certainly a lot going on down south.

Yndira’s face is ovoid in shape, not too big in size. Her eyes are settled perfectly spaced on her face, framed by long lashes. Her eyes, as is displayed by a vast majority of Naerikk, are a bright hue that is both captivating and unnerving. They’re a near radiant, almost florescent yellow-golden color that contrast her skin tone. A pert nose is situated just in the center of her face, ever so slightly upturned. Neither her cheekbones or jaw is prominent, leaving her with a softer set of features than some other Naerikk. Framing her face are strands of long dark hair that can look lighter in some lights. Her hair drapes over her shoulders in sometimes curly waves, though she tends to keep her hair straight most of the time. She has been known to sport wigs upon request of her...companions, though. Yndira would never voice a preference, but she does enjoy toying with her locs.

Her voice, as with her general appearance, is soft and sweet. Sometimes a high soprano, other times a low alto, her voice is as enigmatic as she is. She speaks slowly, but not dully, with just a constant touch of apprehension like she isn’t sure of what she’s saying. Yndira’s words drawl or slur depending on the present company and her intentions for said company. When the facade is dropped, however, she can come across as sounding contemptuous and with a near-perpetual giggle, like you’re always the butt of the joke. To her, everyone pretty much is.

While the Naer are beings of shadows and can take whichever form they wish when in the darkness, Yndira's shadow form tends to be consistent. She's much larger, towering above the height she retains in her illusionary form. Gifted with another set of arms and horns, she appears as a frightening sight. However, as comfortable in this form as she is, it is not often that she finds a need to resort to it outside of the comfort of her own personal darkness.
Control ( Ashan 4th, 717 )
  • several minor cuts, side wound -- will take 20 trials to heal; risk of infection
persona
Yndira is not one to outwardly claim godliness, but she would never reject the claim either. There is a sort of god-like control in deciding who to feast upon and who to ruin, but this is something commonplace to her. So maybe it would be right to say that she has a bit of a god complex. She loves the control that comes with it. Who wouldn’t? But this control is not limited to others. She exerts the same control over her own impulses. Every move is controlled, practiced almost. About as practiced as the seemingly harmless facade she puts up. A good one, at that. The beautiful woman that is unlike others of her kind. The poised, demure creature that only wants to say hello. Even while knowing that as a Naerikk she’s nothing but trouble, most people aren’t wise enough to see past it. And a good percentage of the time, that leads to them being her dinner or a midnight snack. Not all, of course. She doesn’t want to make herself too conspicuous.

As deceptive as she is, Yndira does have a form of integrity. She doesn’t break promises or her word, unless pushed to it. Like, say, one promise overriding another. Or someone forcing her hand. Or catching her while she’s hungry; that’s a sure way to have her break her word. But that begs the question of when is she hungry. And that’s usually always. It’s not so much rumble as it is that she feels as though she were dying. It’s a basic need, right? To feed, just like every other need. But, oh, does she love to eat. Maybe a little more than her figure would let on. But still, you would never have to worry about her eating you...if she promises not to.

Yndira is not aggressive in the way her people usually are. That overt aggression just isn’t her style. Most of the time it just seems like persuasion of some sort. Something like a suggestion, maybe. It’s hard to classify it, for most, when they’re a little distracted by things other than her words. But, let it be know that she does have quite the possessive streak. Once you’ve fallen into her domain, you remain there until she sees fit to let you go. It’s just another control ting, but sometimes she does actually care about what or whoever she feels possessive towards. Just because she might not have the right to stake a claim over something doesn’t mean she won’t hesitate to do it, though. Just pray it isn’t a limb and maybe you’ll get out of it okay.

There’s a principle of total emptiness that Yndira subscribes to that is both easy and difficult to understand. To her, all things are empty and absent of essence. This would include her, but not really. She’s empty in the sense that she needs to be filled with the presence of others rather be solely dependent on them. To be empty is to be dependent and she doesn’t see herself as that empty. Truthfully, she sees herself as someone to be revered, to be worshipped. While her emptiness is clear, she thinks that in contrast to others they should be dependent on her. With this in mind, she tends to keep herself surrounded by others at all times. Never is she without company of some sort.

BIOGRAPHY
father
Name: Villoris Kraelin
Status: Deceased
mother
Name: Khadij Kraelin
Status: Deceased
past
Yndira’s origins are almost something out of a disturbed daydream or nightmare. Her mother, a nameless entity for her lack of presence in the Naerikk’s life, had grand ideas for her survival. See, it was simple, so simple: trap someone well off and let them take care of her. It went against much of the teaching she’d received but she was not the first or the last person to think of this. She just might have been a little more successful than others. The Naerikk that mothered Yndira found her target in a human man of great intelligence, a Villoris Kraelin. He thought himself the world, and then some. He was supposed to be a scholar, a man of science as he claimed. But he clearly didn’t have the intelligence to see what was coming.

Their union was what produced Yndira, much to her father’s chagrin. He fell for the trap and realized it much too late, as most people do. But he redeemed himself, somewhat, in his eyes. He repaid Yndira’s mother through years of torture. As was already stated, he was smart, almost as clever as the woman that had tricked him and cursed him with a brat to care for. He tracked her down not long after Yndira’s birth ( she’d thought it best to disappear for a bit; distance makes the heart grow fonder, doesn’t it? ) and fooled her into her true form. And then, as she had done, he trapped her.

It was a small victory, really. A small victory that kept the Naerikk locked in a small room nestled in both light and darkness as Yndira grew up. She passed her years with delightful screams of her mother as small bursts of light erupted sporadically in the room. Enough to hurt, but not enough to kill. The room with the sparrows painted on the walls, soft and serene, was like a dream to stare into. Her mother would buck and howl as she peered through the keyhole of the door in wonder. Villoris found that taking care of Yndira was a chore in and of itself, especially as a demand for a renewal of her tattooing became more insistent. The horrid creature he thought her to be -- openly admitted, voicing it in her face at every chance -- was to be covered in a lie that her mother had done before.

The pair traveled to Augiery only because of this necessity. Villoris found that it would be beneficial to take her. He could use her however he wished once she was a beautiful and horrific lie to be turned out on someone else. This, though, was where the trouble started. The tattooing process was excruciating and long. A terrible thing to go through, but one that Yndira had to do. By the time it had ended, Yndira would be everything that her mother was and wasn’t; she would be everything that Villoris had come to hate and so much more.

When they had left Augiery, Villoris angrier than anything and Yndira newly beautiful, a plan was set into motion by her father. As he’d wanted, he’d use her. Not more than two trails after they’d left, he’d dropped his daughter off at a brothel and stated she would not come back home until she had learned. Learned what, she found out soon enough. The whores would be her teachers for the next arc, instructing her in the very basics of seduction and flattery. They shielded her only slightly from the true work, but it wasn’t like she didn’t catch on. She inherited her parents’ smarts and it became evident as the girl of fifteen arcs became accustomed to the place she’d been left.

But she did not spend a full arc in the brothel. She left after two seasons, returning to Augiery to be with her people until the time her father came to retrieve her. From the Naerikk of Augiery, she was further instructed in the art of deception. During this time, she underwent more tattooing sessions that further enhanced her beauty. By the time her father had bothered to retrieve her, she was something else. Something more dangerous than he’d left her as. And this, perhaps, was his second mistake.

He should have left her there.

The two returned to Rharne, where Villoris informed his daughter that her mother was dead. Yndira felt only disappointment for not being there at the time of her death. She’d spent most of her childhood being swept away to sleep by the melody of her mother’s torture. She didn’t even know the Naerikk’s name; her father was sure to never speak it aloud lest she get any sort of ideas.

Villoris would later, only an arc later at least, employ his own daughter to act a favor for any number of influential visitors that took interest in his scholarly work. Grants were important things, you see, and he found it tedious to waste time with an application if he could use other means to secure the money needed. And so, he used Yndira to persuade his would-be sponsors to influence the decision of the grants or to sponsor him directly. They were all quite taken by the girl, if not at first appalled by the idea of one such as Villoris using his child in such a way. But they forgot about that soon enough in her company.
And this is where one could say Villoris made his final mistake. Yndira had developed a certain appetite that was particular to certain kinds of meat. While her self-control kept her in check, she grew to see her father as a feeble and pathetic creature. Enough so that he was no longer her father, but a person she worked for and lived with. Soon enough, it was more like she was doing im a favor. Until finally, she grew bored with his presence in her life.

They would never find him, though. Yndira was very sure of this, considering she didn’t waste any part of him. What she couldn’t eat was used to decorate graves and or was planted for her own supposed good fortune. Dust to dust, right? But she could thank her father for one thing: his clientele. She hitched a ride with one of them, and was soon passed on to their friends and their friends’ friends. It was how she got anywhere, traveling from place to place.
There was a time when she’d taken a short break from this, though. Enjoyable as it was, it just wasn’t here style at the time. It was, what, two-three seasons? It was enough for Yndira to get sick of it and move on, back to the way she’d been. She, seemingly beyond her better judgment, got married. To a savage man in the middle of the woods, of all things. It had more to do with their diets, if anything, that had initially tied Yndira to Sky. She had no fear of being detained by authorities for tearing flesh away from the bone of one of her would-be lovers. While she was not one for being outright violent, she could appreciate him in some respects. At least he kept her fed.

But that was not enough. Yndira had acquired a taste for the finer things in life and Sky was certainly not giving that to her. So, she left. Not a particularly great reason, but anyone else would have left the moment they’d met the savage, so props for sticking it out, right? And at least she'd gotten a fascinating necklace made from wolves' teeth out of it. She picked back up where she had left off, getting herself back into the good graces of the upper echelons of society.

She could say she had a good run, up until the last one. She could never remember his name and had a new pet name for him every day but immortals help her he was more pathetic than her father. So she ate him, releasing him of his stagnant existence that he claimed was brightened by the sight of her countenance ( a line he recycled constantly, daily. It made her sick ). But that attracted some attention. Not the kind of sympathetic attention she’d received when her father had “died,” but the kind that involves the authorities. And, of course, she’s been forced on the move again, but what’s new?
Starter Quest
A strange man seems to be following you, though its impossible to tell any distinguishing features. Is it simply paranoia, or has this man somehow figured out who you are and what you've done?
You hear of your old beau disappearing, and of the search turning up rumours of a girl that was living with him, reasonably close to your description. How many Naerikk can there be in Andaris?

Yndira Kraelin

NPCs
memory
Name: Villoris Kraelin
Race: Human
Date of Birth: 3 Cylus 666
Skills: 30 Research, 20 Cooking, 30 Investigation, 20 Medicine
Appearance: Villoris was a man of averages. He was roughly 5'7", though somewhat gangly. His hair greyed early, leading to a peppering of off-white in his brown hair. He did not toil in the sun or really expose himself much after meeting his tormentor Khadja, and thus was pale as a sheet. His eyes were a deep brown color to match his hair. The only scars he sported were to his cheek and shoulder, incisions that looked like claw marks and teeth marks respectively.
Personality: Villoris was not a kind man. He was prideful, easily lost to compliments if they stroked his ego. He thought himself above everyone else, smarter than all others. He had aspirations that could never be fulfilled due to overestimating his own abilities. His concern for others was next to nothing, and as such, the only thing mourned at his passing was the loss of his research.
Relationship to PC: Father, killed by Yndira
Anything: As far as people know, Villoris went missing out at sea while traveling. This, however, is not the case. As stated in Yndira's history, she killed and ate him, doing the bare minimum to cover her tracks.

Name: Jennai Coulson
Race: Biqaj
Date of Birth: 16 Zi'Da 690
Skills: 20 Acrobatics, 30 Cosmetology, 20 Seduction, 20 Endurance, 10 Dancing
Appearance: Jennai is noted for his delicate features, soft lines and round shapes. He is not often described with typically masculine adjectives, and one could call his frame to be supple. He remains at five feet and six inches, a height he deems suitable. His hair is a dark brown, save few patches that have grayed inexplicably. His skin is pale as a sheet, and as per those of his race, his eyes change color with the tides of his emotions.
Personality: Self-centered is a great descriptor for the Biqaj courtesan. Vain would work just as well. He spends a majority of his time focused on his appearance when not working, or exaggerating some tale of a previous clients. He has a general disdain for most people and does not hesitate to exploit weakness in his favor, if given the chance. Jennai's a fickle thing, with very loose ties to anyone unless they've managed to root themselves firmly in an area of contempt.
Relationship to PC: Informant/Teacher
Anything: At one point, it was assumed that Jennai had befriended Yndira. She later discovered that he was yet another connection of her mother's. The two were not what one could consider rivals or friends, though Jennai was most definitely not fond of the Naerikk, just as he wasn't of her offspring.

personal
Name: Nadine Fisk
Race: Human
Date of Birth: 2 Saun 672
Skills: 30 Unarmed Combat, 30 Blades(Daggers), 20 Medicine, 20 Detection
Appearance: Nadine is a woman of action, quite evident in the large number of scars that mark her body. At five feet and eleven inches, she is tall, but easily dwarfed by the Eidisi and Ellune races. Her skin is dark as the earth, with hair the color of ash and dreaded. Nadine's eyes are dark enough to be considered black, although they are truly just a very dark brown. She carries herself with great pride, enough to fill her muscular frame.
Personality: Arrogant with good reason, Nadine is decisive in all her actions. While she does not often take time to think things through completely, she had the innate ability gifted to all humans: adaptability. She is loyal to a fault, however. It's part of what has earned her the better part of her scars, all things considered. She remains an immovable force when her mind is set to a decision, especially if it might involve breaking a few limbs.
Relationship to PC: Mentor/Family friend
Anything: Was previously a friend of Yndira's mother, tasked with looking after her
