Scalvoris Town Docks

Ah Chrien’s night, was there a sweeter time of year? It was perhaps the only day in the Scalvoran calendar where it was not just socially acceptable for a person to play a harmless prank upon another but actually encouraged. For people like Tio, who thrived on mischief and the minor chaos it caused, any excuse was excuse enough for a prank, and so the option of letting a golden opportunity like this pass by was practically unthinkable.
And for tonight Tio had a very special prank in mind to play on the Biqaj bard Pash. Almund was home to many skilled woodworkers who, for the right price, could craft practically anything, and with their help the thief had created the perfect item for his plan: a ten foot wooden shark. It was painted to look like a real shark, at least from a distance or under the water, and was built from a blend of wood that made it sink in the water when not moving but float close to the surface with its fin sticking out when pulled. Attached to the underside of its mouth was a long rope with a hook on the end.
It was the dead of night when Tio made his move. Despite the recent string of storms the sky was thankfully clear, and so he had no trouble pushing through the calm waters around Scalvoris Town as he swam as quietly as possible towards the sloop Pash lived on. Most people were either asleep already or out partying in town, leaving the docks pretty much deserted, and so Tio’s approach went unnoticed. When he finally reached the sloop he held his breath and dived down, swimming underneath the sloop and wrapping the rope around the ship's keel a few times, then fastened the hook to the rope and swam back to the surface.
He watched as the fake shark slowly began to sink out of sight underneath the water and smirked in anticipation of what was to come. His little prank probably wouldn’t come to fruition until tomorrow, or maybe even later, but when Pash next set sail if everything went as planned the fake shark would rise to the surface, dragged behind the ship by the length of rope, and appear to chase the sloop wherever it went.
As quietly as he could Tio swam back to the docks and pulled himself out of the water, shaking himself off like a dog to rid himself of as much water as he could. Perhaps he’d get lucky and spot the results of his handiwork, but even if he didn’t the knowledge that his creation was out there somewhere causing chaos in his name had him feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Hopefully both Pash and Kali would only be a little bit scared of sharks.
