It had been a long time since the sails on his boat had been let down and Bronik watched as they unfurled in the light breeze and rose to shake them out, smoothing the wrinkles as flat as he could with open palm. Rynmere was a lot bigger than he had been led to believe and getting free of the dock would prove interesting with all the traffic coming and going. He ran to the back of the boat, having almost forgotten his fishing net, and pulled it in, heaving hard as he leaned backwards, using his body weight to lift the salt stiffened rope from the sea. Navigating the sandbar proved just as challenging as escaping the docks had been, and soon, Bronik found himself stuck just beyond the breakers, laughed at by a fellow fisherman that gave his vessel a wide berth as he passed by. Bronik marked his mistake down on a piece of paper he had started drawing a rough map of the southern shoreline on and looked over the edge of the boat to see how badly he was stuck. It was a novice mistake to make, and were his sister here, she would never have let him live it down.
The situation called for further investigation and Bronik tired a rope to the mast and threw it overboard before looking out to see if any waves were headed his way that might help get the sloop free. With the coast clear, he dove into the water after peeling off his shirt and trousers, and swum down to the sandy bottom to find that the boat was completely bellied. He came up for a breath and went under again, shovelling sand away from the back of the boat in the hopes that the current direction of the incoming tide would push it back away from the sandbar, and after two or three more trips, it seemed like it just might work.
