The Noot Noot Files

Hi! I'm Dementia or Ashley. Eventually this post will look better. I have thoughts that need to get put down somewhere.

Feelings, Eugh

Pretty recently I took an extended break from the site. My grandfather passed away last December and it hit me pretty hard. I've struggled with a variety of mental health issues for the past few years now-his death set off a pretty big depressed episode in me. I feel a lot better than I have in a while, thankfully.

But recently I've been...I don't know what the right word is. When I left, I did so abruptly and without warning Jade or Basilisk or Tribute or Doyenne (this is back in January, when it was just the five of us) and as a result a lot of the things I'd left unfinished got dumped on other people. These things ended up getting changed from my original intentions from them. Sometimes this proved to be a good thing-Whisper made the Ellune so much more then they were and Shards continues to do a great job in Treidhart-but other times I was taken aback by the changes. The Sev'ryn, for example, changed drastically from my plans for them. I have to admit that the changes made the race simpler for players to understand, but one of the most important things in my mind (their lack of traditional gender roles) was removed entirely and seeing that kind of broke my heart. Something important to me is that underrepresented people have a place to feel safe. The Sev'ryn were partially meant to be that safe place for those who don't identify as traditionally male or female.

Will we ever have that kind of place? I don't know right now, but I intend to push for it.

Other than the changes made to the Sev'ryn, I'm incredibly proud of all the Prophets and the progress they've made on the site. I'm so proud that we finally opened. I'm glad I can call myself a part of the team here again.

Right now, my biggest projects are finishing the Naerikk as well as Southern Idalos in general. As soon as one of those things is done, I intend to jump back into Immortal mode and revise what I can. Other plans I have include working on Idalosian drugs, more food, and cats, goddammit.
